Sold my 1983 quattro in 2006, just got an email from the guy who bought that he has since sold it on and it will be appearing in the TV series Ashes to Ashes which is the sequel to Life on Mars. They have put a different no plate on it but apparently it's my old car!

Just my bleeding luck, wouldn't it be ironic if my car was responsible for starting a big revival in interest in the ur quattro and the prices going through the roof after I struggled to a get a couple of grand for it just over a year ago.

Damn it! When does the series start, or was it a 'coming soon' teaser?

There is a huge amount of interest in URs now, they are very sought after cars now and prices are definatly on the up.

I bet you wish you kept it now! biggrin

They don't care. They still bask in the glory, still use it in ads for the Q7 and are even building a five-pot RS-TT, but we're just a minor irritation to them in reality. If they ignore us long enough they think we'll go away.

The only hope left is that Piech is back and he was the one who made Quattro happen. We should write to him directly.

Not a bad idea, actually. And point out that many quattro owners remain enthusiasts for the marque and drive "regular" Audi's every day. However, we'll start buying BMWs instead.

Better off with a Skoda...

I don't want a BMW either but its a threat that might wake Audi up...doubt it though.

Git, you have 2 cars from my top 5 garage biggrin

Okay, 1.5 cars. My fantasy Ur- is black. The Cerbera is just that colour though. Let me know if you ever want to sell that for 2 grand wink

It will be interesting to know how you feel when you see it being thrown around and 'given some'.

Thanks for the complement, don’t hold your breath though!

I did hear a rumor they wrecked several quattros in making the series, hopefully some of the wrecked cars were the coup version dolled up rather than URs!

Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes with classic/semi classic cars. Presumably Mk 3 Cortina values have risen as a result of the first series, Life on Mars?

There was certainly a raised awareness of Mk.III Cortinas. Ironically it has resulted in quite a few 2000E models getting 'wrong' GXL headlamps. I had heard that at least 1 car got written off too frown

I'm currently hoping they might need a late model XR4x4 for a follow-on series in the late 80s/early 90s. biggrin

Hope this works, I'm struggling to get Gif Movie Gear software to make an animation that looks ok and isn't too huge:
