Hi Ppl, hope someone can shed some light on my problem. The EPC light has come on on the dash. The steering column has been change, the steering rack has also been changed. Just last wk I had the ignition sensor changed. The car has about 37k on the clocks. I only drive the car to & from work about 3miles on local roads.

What do u think? wink

Would help if you told us what mark (year) GTI it is.....

If its a 2000-2001.... check the brake lights are still working.... (no, seriously!)

EPC - Electric pedal control. Your brake lights are not working, will probably need a new brake light switch

Mega bump for this thread.

Is this likley to be the same problem for a 2001 Seat Ibiza?

Costly to fix?

Cheers

EPC = Electronic Power Control
Can come on for a number of reasons. The last time mine came up it was the brake light switch, the part was £7 and fitting at an indy was about £20ish

There are 100's of things that can put that light on. Brake pedal switches are obviously common. But you should never just fit these things because you think it might be that.

The fault memory must be checked see why the light is on.

EPC light coming on, basically means as engine management fault has occurred, but not one that is likey to effect emission, or that light would come on too.
