Can someone explain what's going on here, ideally someone clued up in a Seat dealer.

Searched for a vehicle with particular spec, narrowed it down a bit on the manufacturer website, then search through listed vehicles to find one as close as possible to desired options.

Find something close to what looking for, not exact, but near enough, listed as National UK stock, dealer address nearest dealer to home. Not listed on dealer website.

Check another dealer, probably more handy, plus we have a discount deal with them. This vehicle is also not on their website, but if I put office postcode in, the earlier vehicle shows up on the search and now the second dealer address is given, again national uk stock.

So call in to ask what's the procedure if I want to look at a particular vehicle shown on national stock. Basically the salesperson isn't sure, and suggests just look at dealer websites until find the one that has it. Eh?

Clearly, reading the subtext, they would strongly prefer to sell me something that they have in local/dealer group stock, even if that means selling me a spec I don't want. I understand that's better and easier for them, but surely a dealer can search through their national stock easily to find where it is, then come to some arrangement to buy it in if suitable. If knew where it was would probably drive there to have a look. Suppose they're afraid of losing a sale.

Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but if someone was clearly giving buying signals to me and looking at spending 20k plus I'd have a bit more get up and go, or are cars transporting themselves out of the showroom these days.
