OK, so why are the tyres on our TT wearing more quickly at the rear than the front? I thought the Haldex made the car essentially front wheel drive until traction reasons gave some to the rears. Our TT has SO3s all round and the rears are ready to be changed while the fronts are only 50% worn. (All fitted at the same time BTW.) Tyre wear is completely even across the tread so no alignment probs.
Maybe the girlfriend isn't driving hard enough? (32mpg average due a lot of motorway cruising). But if she were I'd expect the fronts to be more worn anyway.

Hmm, we had the Haldex ECU replaced under warranty (2 dealers said it was giving a checsum error - to me that doesn't mean it's not working ... maybe it wasn't). That was a good 7,000 miles ago. Didn't feel like it was running RWD only/bias or anything. I can feel when drive is passed to the rear wheels and you have to be really trying to kill yourself for that to happen.
The tyres (SO3s) on the front have about 3mm of tread and the rear is close to the wear indicator. That's in 20,000 miles. She got 26,000 miles out of the original Michelin Pilots which seemed to wear more evenly all round. I'll watch the next set of tyres to see how they wear (obviously getting rears first this time instead of all 4 at once - probably the newer Pilot Sports or SO3s (she needs the rim protector IYKWIM)).
