My 57 plate Jetta 1.9 TDi DSG is due for a 20,000 mile service (time/mileage based service not long life) shortly.

Got a few quotes from 3 dealers in the West/SW London area:

Dealer 1. £320
Dealer 2. £295 (This dealer is in the same group as dealer 1! )
Dealer 3. £285 (Different owner from dealers 1 & 2).

Phoned back dealer 1 with quote from dealer 3, he quickly lowered and matched the price so I booked it in as they're closer to me. I'm just wondering is £285 a good price? Or am I still being ripped off?

Dealer 1 advised me I need to change my brake fluid now, but dealer 2 informed me that this only needs to be done after 2 years (my car is 1.5 years old).

The service seems pretty basic, oil, oil filter, pollen filter and some general "checks". No doubt they will find something to bump up the price like wipers, new pads and discs.

maybe pollen filter (which they probably will "forget" to change).
How hard is it to check myself that the pollen filter has been changed?
