Remember the Reinhardts?

A pioneering, five pot Audi for Shed of the Week this week – and all for under £400. Remember when the coefficient of drag was something to be boasted about?

Advert: 1989 G Reg AUDI 100 2.2 E (5 Cylinder) Saloon (Auto)

135,000 Miles, New Cambelt, Exhaust, M.O.T. until May 2008, grey Velour, Power Steering, electric windows/mirrors, central locking, steel tilt/slide sunroof, front fogs, head lamp washers, (all electrics work 100%). Very good paintwork for year and totally unmarked Interior. Drives just like new. This five cylinder engine is the best Audi made and is completely bullet proof; years of life left and long m.o.t as well! £399.

Still it looks like a piece, would much rather have a 5 series BMW of the same era.

90% improvement over last weeks example of a 'lottery winners shed', however to earn that extra 10% how about some stats, eg. performance, handling, running costs etc....don't want to have to do a google search every time!

My thoughts too, this is the kind of price range I buy my bangers in. Haven't bought a £500+ daily runner for years.

Indeed, I believe the Cd was 0.30 although I suspect that was without mirrors. But a figure that many modern cars struggle to achieve.

well done ph staff, much more of a shed than recent attempts, although i wouldnt dream of buying something like that, how about you try and find a e30 320 for that money

Much better effort this week. I remember these from the 80's & although I too would prefer a 5 series BMW this is probably in better nick than an equivalent value BMW. Whilst looking at Audi's I reckon you could get a half decent Audi Coupe GT for about £500 - now thats worth looking for.

You'll prob get a better E34 5 Series or E32 7 Series for the £500 mark. E30s are beginning to keep their values now, as there aren't as many decent examples about.

the car audi designed with a ruler volvo style. cheap though, great to just race about in though.

Yes you could say that.just bought an l reg 2.0 avant with a dodgy slush box.
lovely car though,only paid £100 for it,5 spoke alloys and fully loaded.

To me, an just my opinion, piston's shed should be a car that's or should i say was desirable or maybe a little differant, an one which when you look at you think hmm and it kinda gets you thinking even if it's just for a few seconds, the XJS they ran a while back was a perfect example of this, as was the 924, or was it a 944 hmm cant remember now.
But after all last weeks moans about to expensive...it seems the worst possible outcome has been achieved, why is this car here? other than it's cheap? talk about dull, the whole point of shed or so i thought is to find cheap an interesting, i'e cars that you may have once wanted in your youth, RS turbo? or simply cars were you get a huge amount of car for the money, i'e V12 jag.
Sorry but Shed has really scraped the barrel this month, how the did you pick this? oh yeah you went to the autotrader website thought we'l run an audi this week...., picked the first model available from the drop down menu 100, an then surprise surprise picked the first ing car you saw...
Sorry but if this is indicative of the effort an direction of shed into finding interesting an cheap cars to have some banter about you may aswell scrap the lot

Ding! Ding! and Double Ding! EXACTLY my thoughts. Cheap, sporty and lots of metal is what SOTW should be about. WTF is this????

I tend to have fun whatever I'm in, ok some cars are better than other but that looks like a good SOTW to me, remember not everyone has the same taste in sheds

I Would rather the E34 520i I just sold on ebay for £400 though.

In the mid 90's I had a 100 Turbo ( a bit tweaked I later found out) that in two years went from 8k to 168k on the odometer and never let me down.

Best production car I ever had, and after selling it for peanuts at 168k I saw it on a forecourt, polished up nicely, with just 74k on the clock.............

The thing was a complete beast, and even had its own underbonnet cooling fan for the engine and turbo ( like a big hairdryer) blowing cooling air over the metal bits. It was crap on corners but on the straights there wasn't much that could keep up with it, a point and squirt barge if there ever was one.

Galvanised body and Audi build quality. I should have kept it in hindsight.
