RS6 To Have 610bhp?

Epic power rumoured for Audi's hyper family car

Yes, this is the S6. Expect the RS6 to look much angrier
Yes, this is the S6. Expect the RS6 to look much angrier
Motor Authority has obtained a tasty nugget of information from Audi regarding the power of the RS6.

A recent leak of chassis codes revealed that the BHP rating will be 571, but an Audi insider has claimed that it is going to be closer to 610bhp.

Thinking about it – bolting a pair of turbos onto a V10 that already spews out 429bhp would surely add more than 142bhp, right?

At the office, we can’t wait to see (and hear) this behemoth in action. It’ll be difficult for those power crazed boys at BMW to keep up with this bad boy. Oh well – better luck next time lads.

Thing is about those power crazed boys at BMW - They don't need twin turbos and 4WD to make a car go seriously quick or handle extremely well.

I really don't see the point of these. I saw I think an RS6 at Santa Pod once. It was ridiculous. It launched from the line all over the place as its suspension seemed totally incapable of steadying the power. To think of these on a road with even more and a family sitting in it just seems madness!

The RS4 should have taught you that modern Audis handle pretty well.

Pretty sure I saw and heard one of these going around the nurburgring in July. It was amazingly loud, you could hear it from about a mile away and sounded stunning.

I have to agree with the comment that chris made. BMW's have no twin turbos, no four wheel drive and yet they are still a better car than the Audi. They think that by giving it stupid power that it makes it a better car. M Power beats audi by a mile!!

Problem with Audi is they have compared themselves to the BMW M's, when in truth it's different kit for different tastes.

Both cars will be damn fun, fast and enjoyable, just in different ways.

Give me a biturbo RS4 for getting from A to B in relatively poor weather nice and briskly with something that won't fit in a coupe's boot, along with some cheap thrills and overtaking grunt aplenty.

Give me an E46 M3 for an early summer morning hoon across some challenging roads.

Seems to have always been this way, Audi with a bit more power (often turbo), 4wd and an Avant taking the limelight (or being the only variant), while BMW make something NA with rwd. Different cars for different people, comparing them will always lead you to the point that they are for different things, so one will always win when comparing the things it focusses on!

Isn't the new BMW 335i engine actually a twin turbo 3.0???

in the past yes, Audi seem to be responding and the RS4 seems pretty even with the new M3, despite the extra two years of M development.

No turbo on my RS4 either!

Thats a diesel. A diesel needs a turbo, we're talking about the larger V8's or V10's. Audi need turbo's full stop! I think people also forget about the Mercedes AMG's, their brilliant cars!

I agree, they do, with 4WD. I'm saying BMW dont need the extra weight and cost of 4WD to get the same results. Mercedes AMG are also vastly improving. Pro-BMW? I don't own one, and fully appreciate Audi's efforts - I just think BMW have some seriously clever people working for them to acheive what they do without Turbos etc.........M5 Touring anyday - The difference in oopmh will be rarely missed on UK roads between the two.

... and bloody fantastic.

I like the new M5 a lot however it will not keep up with this here beastie IMO. There is place for both as others have said they do different things in different ways. However I think BMW are not as far ahead in the game as they once were, Audi and Merc are now making quicker cars (been doing that for a while) but they are also making them go around bends.

Those moaning about Audis having turbos, Audi went NA for the last RS4, do you not like that? BMW are now using turbos more than ever I believe, so maybe you'll have to stop liking them too.

PS. Anyone that doesn't like a car with 610BHP needs to get off pistonheads and go back to hiking monthly.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
