I need a new brake servo for my Griff but I the cheapest I can find the part is £435 EX VAT!!!

http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/tvr-car-part-j0088...

I not not trying to be a cheap skate here but IMO over £500 for a brake servo is taking the piss.

I have called Ford who quoted £177 EX VAT I tried to buy it but it turns out they don't have any in stock. I have the following part numbers from another thread but I cannot find any stock:

OE 1666345
Girling 4110328
TRW PSA 328

I ideally want a new one as the labour to fit is quite intensive so I don't want to find myself in a position where a second hand part also fails.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers for that, very helpful. I will give that supplier a call tomorrow to see if they have any in stock. I did read last year that Hans had some in stock, I will give him a shout ifI that UK supplier doesn't have any.

I will certainly let you know Ian, was expecting this to be a simple job and had in mind £70 - £100 for the part. I wasn't expecting this can of worms! Makes me wonder what else from the parts bin is now obsolete. Grrrr. Bloody TVRs.

Matthew when i did mine i got both brake master cylinder and servo from Brakes International. The servo wasnt cheap but nothing like you`ve been quoted.
Maybe worth a call to see what stock they have. Its a Fiesta unit. Whilst you are in there you may as well do the master cylinder as well, as its only a matter of time iyswim.

The folks at http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/ford/ford-1666345... can't supply the servo - out of stock.

Just checked with the place I get a lot of my bits from - same response - they knew straight away they wouldn't be able to get it.

No luck yet. I have phoned around a number of suppliers including those suggested in this thread, none of which have any in stock. I have pinged an email of to Hans in the hope that he may have one left.

I am not sure where else to look.

Just a thought. You are trying to replace it, but could you possibly get someone to replace the seals?

Good shout, I am not sure if they are a serviceable item but I will make some inquiries.

Whilst I was trawling EBay on your behalf I did see some seal kits for about £15. Just made me wonder. Time to ask an expert.

This time was always going to come when there were no more Fiesta units for our cars.

Matthew nows your chance to find out a more modern alternative that will or can be made to fit. wink

I was wondering if the Ford Ka servo also used in the later Speed Six 'T' cars would fit. I may look at this route if I cannot find a replacement servo at a reasonable price.

We need to try the many other various uk Ford suppliers. I will try mine in Cambridge quoting the part number. Read somewhere it was for a Fiesta supplied for the USA.

Good call wink its very similar so long as the MC push-rod is the same length/depth the 4 fixing studs pattern could be altered if needs be, this would be very handy as the later T car KA style servo is widely available all IMO per usual cool

Also don't be shy. If you have a part number, google Ford dealers in say Baltimore and call them.
I did when I owned a Ford Explorer. They knew straight away how long every job took and the parts were often cheaper, even with airfreight..
If you need a USA Ford part, try buying it from the USA.

I have to confess that I recently bought a servo from Hans that he said was his last one. He'd not managed to find anymore in Europe.

Hopefully someone will turn some up. As others have said above, the alternative is we have to find a suitable replacement as there are lots of TVR's out there that are going to need them.
