Griff silencer.

I've been told that if you take the glass fibre out of a silencer on a Griff you basically have a great sounding sports exhaust. Its just a matter of taking the exhaust off then cutting into the top of the silencer, remove the glass fibre which they use to silence the exhaust then weld back up. Ive been told this only takes 30 min and would cost about £30.

Yes it's pretty fantastic, if you like loud things (probably do if you've a TVR in the garage)

have done quite a few conversions in various stages now to get which ones are best .. of the lot the best does appear to be remove the silencer completely and replace with 2mm thick stainless tubing .. it's loud but sounds like an V8 dragster. This version takes longer though so is a little more expensive .. but at a quarter of the cost of a proper sports pipe it's a bargain 
removing the sound proof stuff has almost the same effect but not quite, but it is alot quicker to do and so costs even less making it even better value! no need to buy a sports exhaust again.
Incidently cerberas with no internals in the rear box sound great too ...

No you can't have your Griff back. Good luck in finding a good one, Do you still want one in Rosso Pearl with Mag hide.
Can someone please tell me the pipe diameter of the actual exhaust pipes from the centre box? I know the tailpipes are 2.5", but as they are sleeved over the actual pipes that does not help me unless I chop them off.
Reason for asking is that I have already done the welding accident... sorry officer, straight through pipes bit, and I am now looking at dumping the exhaust system as it stands and fitting titanium cans on the rear, al-la Tuscan S6.

Shame because the first thing I'll do is the sports exhaust! Have you considered the rear light conversion? Or even the dual light under the perspex front light conversion (tvrbodyshop.com)?
Have you seen the price of 98 R reg Griffs!!!! And you've had yours 2 years!!!

I like the rear light conversion but not the dual front lights, you can,t beat the front of a Griff for looks, they look like they should be on the starting grid for the Le Mans 24hr, already had the sports exhaust(read the begining of this topic), thinking about removing the pre cats(waiting for Joolz), but really really want 18" TVR Spyders.

I've npt got oxy-acetylene so will have to do a cut and shut job on the manifold, something you wee keen to avoid .. gives the game away. can't find anyone willing to bun them out (health gounds) , so might draw a blank o that one. I'm going to cut the cats out of the S, but I don't mind the welding being on show fo having them done that way.

I''m going to get the silencer modification done to my Griff ASAP and i've been phoning round the Sussex area trying to get a few quotes but they all seem bloody expensive.
Fernhurst have quoted £200 + VAT, David Batty reckons between £150 to £200 and I'm waiting for Dream Machines to get back to me.
Any ideas where it can be done cheaper?
