do you think its the front or rear that helps with stability? at proper speed 140 plus, mine starts to get light....to the point i have been thinking of getting a tamora for their reputed handling qualities, though the chaps at sportmotive say that i need a front splitter, and would benefit from a proper suspension set up, as i did all that in the garage with string and tape measures
Possibbly. I've had mine at speeds of around 145-150 (in continental Europe and on track) and it seemed fine, to me at least I am given to understand that the splitter does affect stability - mine has one - and that they are also sensitive to the front end rake i.e. they need to be inclined slightly nose down as per the original design. When I had the Nitrons fitted racing green also did a complete laser suspension set-up, front & rear, and it transformed the balance and handling. good to know, mine feels ok at 130ish, but pushing on hard after that it feels a little light.......after paint I will get it aligned, and get the racing reds set up properly, and get a splitter fitted
Hi Steve
The front splitter helps with straight line stability at high speed (120 plus) while the rear diffuser adds rear end stablity through high speed bends. My car is very stable at 150 plus.
Collin & Dave at SC Power has done alot of aero research around the Griff. Definitely worth a chat.
I have been in 7TVR LS3 powered Griff at very high speeds and he has fitted mod Mk2 Tuscan S front splitters and these work very well at providing stability.
Paint looks good.

after a little flatting...
had the rl7 powdered silver, fitted 235/40 fronts, and eventually 255/40 rear federal RSR....they were really tight on the rims.
ride height is way high, rear camber has the wheel upright, so they need to be pulled in a little at the top, which will clear the arch ok .....i dont know how i measured that these wouldnt work, but i had convinced myself id need to cut the inner arches to make them fit, I think i underestimated how much they would pul in on compression.....

That's a great colour.
thanks.....it looks really different depending on the light, though its not a flip or pearl. (you can see the wings look bluish to greenish depending on the light) trying to decide wether to paint the engine covers the same colour...theyre currently black, just visible behind the alternator here SSPPGG said:

What J rims do you have for the 255`s ,just removed my 255`s because one side rubbed against the inner wing .had the rl7 powdered silver, fitted 235/40 fronts, and eventually 255/40 rear federal RSR....they were really tight on the rims.

Better diameter though.makes the speedo spot on .
Mine are on classifieds if anyone is interested.
The griff must have a bit more space under the arches.

8j all round, but i can adjust the speedo via the GM ecu Better diameter though.makes the speedo spot on .

maybe the griff does have a little more space, as they are a 33 offset, whereas yours are 40 i recall in the arch, either wider, or perhaps rounder at the top. Ian was sure theyd fit, I wasn't, but heyho, he was right.....i do now have a spare pair of 215/40/17 RSR fronts now though.....

The wall height on the 255`s matched the front 225/45/16 perfectly ,within 1mm
almost ready to send to the trimmers tomorrow, the roof will be black or green, the interior carpets black or dark green or tan...........i really need to decide....and these pics were taken with a different camera....and the paint colour still is blue/green depending on the lighting.....might be hard to pick a good colour match for the interior.
the dash/seats/whaletail etc are remaining as is..in biscuit

thats the last i will see of the griff till the trimmer has done his thing, took it down to "dave the trimmer" in MK today for re-carpet, roof, gearshift gaiters, and a few other odds and sods.
in the interim, sportmotive are finishing off the bonnet and boot. they're painted, but need a flat and polish
i've opted for corrado mirrors, as i found i could never see much out of the drivers one.
once its back, 7 inch HID willl be going in, (oh and a screen) and hope back OTR again
the 2 pics were taken 5 mins apart in slightly different light conditions.....

well Steve, looking great, love the paint choice!
just needs a suitable reg no. to finish it off. Oh, and I just happen to have one to swap against something of similar value that i heard you might be moving on in due course.??.
