Griffith cabin cooling..
Discussion
I can’t help with recommendations but I do have A/C on my Griff I have had both with and without.
Before I got this one I never really had a big issue with cabin temps once the valve was sorted and fully closed so it did blow coolish. This year was my first experience of A/C and probably the hottest summer I have experienced with a Griff. The A/C is great with the roof on you can get the cabin temps down to really cold if needed. With the roof off it’s pretty useless other than keeping the footwell nice and cool. I find that the fans are not really powerful enough to help with the roof off so will have a go over the winter to improve the fans so I can feel a benefit with the roof off as well as with it on. But this was an extremely hot summer. Retro fitting A/C will be expensive and IMO probably not worth itv for the benefits you actually get.

Assuming you can get all the parts..
Would anyone recommend anyone to retrofit TVR air con to a Griff 500.
I can't say yet whether I would recommend it but I'm going to have a go at fitting it myself this winter in my chim. I assume all the bits are the same, your biggest problem will be getting an evaporator to fit in the heater box according to Tvr parts I have brought the last one in the world.Would anyone recommend anyone to retrofit TVR air con to a Griff 500.

roof on, sitting in traffic, is what I want aircon for. Before I got this one I never really had a big issue with cabin temps once the valve was sorted and fully closed so it did blow coolish. Barry in that case it works great. On the way back from the Growl the traffic was pretty crap so slow driving and not much air flow even with the roof off, temps over 30c outside I stopped put the roof and aircon on and within minutes it was like a fridge in the cabin. My heater valve was worn out and passing when shut which roasted us in the summer. The replacement body is available for m TVR parts for £23.70, but as mentioned above clamp the water pipes to see if this is the problem. The later Griffs had a separate outside air supply to the drivers footwell and dash air vent. Mine wasn't working as the fan impellor was jammed, but as it lives in the wing cavity its a bit time consuming to remove. Now its working the air is welcome but if its hot outside then it can still be warm in there.

My cooling fan is not working in my 94 500, how do you access it? I believe it’s in the drivers footwell somewhere?Edited by das2000m on Thursday 16th August 08:14
