Pre Cat Griffith Wheel Centres
Discussion
Hi Guys,
My centre caps have come back from the powdercoaters and I must say that I am impressed.
I did not remove the alloy disc as I wanted to keep the 'domed' look. However, I asked the powdercoater to test one in the oven before he applied the coating; it all stayed intact.
I'm looking forward to sourcing some centre cap badges and fitting my new wheels!

Pete, how did you remove the alloy centres? I may have made a misake by leaving them in as the originals seem to have a fairly large recess . . . That's another £20 on powdercoating if I go down that route
Do you have any images of your's once removed?
Hi Chris, I carefully prised them off (they are glued on with silicon). You Will not satisfactorily put the new domed TVR badges onto the existing aluminium domes, will sit proud! I should get mine back from being powder coated in a couple of weeks when I next visit my client in Norfolk. Regards, PeteDo you have any images of your's once removed?

Your on the list Paul! Shall get them all on order tomorrow. All the best, Pete
Hi Guys, there is an issue with the badges that I went to order today from the place that quoted to make them! They now say that they can only do the thin vinyl label type NOT domed resin! So I will not be ordering from them. Have this very evening found the details of the badge manufacturer that made the small 'Griffith 4.3' badges for me back in 2014. I had forgotten about them, so have sent them an email, but will follow up with a call over next couple of days. All the best, PeteI may have found a solution. I peeled the centre off one as a tester (damaging the powdercoating - but this will have to be re-blasted and coated again anyway).
I found a centre cap from a V8S or Wedge I had kicking around and removed the centre. It is domed, uses the correct logo and is the same colour as the Gotti cap, it happens to fit perfectly too.
For the complete cap, they are circa £20 each on tvr-parts but I may have a source to get them more cheaply. I will be investigating tomorrow. Is anyone else interested?
Apologies for the terrible image, I won't go into why it is such poor quality. Blame my Samsung.
Chris sorry to hijack your investigation re the badges from a V8S wheel centre! I have had this very morning a long and helpful telephone conversation with Colin Bowler, Manager at TVR-Parts. Have explained the Gotti wheel centre issues, what we have done to source a cap from MG, and the the fact that Chris has identified that the V8S domed badge fits and is a match for the originals. He is very receptive in trying to help the Griffith community, and would like to try and source these badges for us, and if necessary stock the MG type metal centres (without MG badges).
I have therefore, agreed to send him my one and only Gotti original centre cap with badge, and email him the details of the MG part, along with any photos we have taken (Chris is it OK to use yours?). This seems a good way to go in making it a permanent available item for Gotti Wheels. Shall keep you al updated. Regards, Pete

Hi guys,
I have found a source that has a few NOS centre caps left. They are going to be circa £10 for each cap, including postage.
I belive he has enough for a few sets, but obviously that quantity is limited to what he finds.
I have bought some myself and I am very impressed; they look almost identical to the Gotti cap now.

Hi Chris, where did you get them from please? Many thanks, PeteI have found a source that has a few NOS centre caps left. They are going to be circa £10 for each cap, including postage.

I bought them from a guy that's local to me, the same chap that had I purchased the NOS caps from. He is looking for more as we speak, I did see a few while I was there; circa 15 but he suspects that there may be more I have also found a few more complete caps in my shed (NOS). So even if he doesn't come up trumps with a plentiful supply of badges we have a back up!
I didn't want to butcher good, complete caps that would be useful to 'S' owners if we can get a few loose badges instead.
If there is any interest, please let me know. He would like me to sell whatever he comes across (he's not a TVR owner anymore).
