5 years and 6 months with the Griff 500 and a new battery...apart from basic servicing that's it.

Just as well otherwise Mrs Toffer would have sold it whilst I was at work!

PS. May I remind you of my Ferrari Enzo thread?...yep that's the one...broken down on the M25 (apparently twice)...still pays your money etc.

there are bad cars and bad owners.
most faults on so-called problem cars are owner-inflicted.

All I can say is that you must be sitting in your TVR at the side of the motorway in your TVR waiting for the AA to arrive with their recovery van, after speaking to Joospeed about your reliable car.

'How's your exploding handbrake, and leaky rad?'

Nice one TVR-critic! Aren't profiles a wonderful thing. But the difference is that I like them, you don't, and you've bought 7! Que? I've had 3 TVRs since Jan 97 and if a leaky rad is the worst thing that goes wrong in 6.5 years, that's good by any manufacturer's standards. The handbrake took 2 mins to fix and £0; in fact it was rather amusing.

Perhaps I've been lucky, perhaps I buy good ones and look after them. Yes, they need more looking after than mass-produced stuff like Porkers, but that's allowed as they are (in my case) pets and not tools. They are hand made and still give you the best performance/style/sheer grunt for the money. But obviously you've had bad ones and I would say this: if you don't like them, you're welcome to go and buy something else!

Yawn. Getting boring now, TVR-critic.

TVR-Critic,

You are REALLY starting to bug the crap out of me (and thats putting it mildly). If you hate them that much - stay away, we get the picture that you don't think much of the marque. Out of your 54 posts there has been 4 that haven't had a dig at TVR. Time to give it a rest IMO.

No just the one,the other shed's for me, but have owned 7 to date, TVRs that is not sheds, and yes i have been blessed with good fortune regarding reliability, or maybe i have an angel looking over me or maybe i am better at owning them or have serious memory problems ?

I am leaving it alone read my previous post!
Everyone has the right to an opinion, and there are people on here who will agree with some of the comments I have made.
Instead of giving me a hard time, I think you should act like a proper lady, go and buy yourself a pink Ford Ka convertible and go shopping! yeh and go dance around your handbag, with your white stillettos.

Everyone has a right ot an opinion fair enough. But when the opinion goes on like a broken record - thats pushing it.

As for acting like a "proper lady" - i have NEVER acted like that and probably never will. Just like I will never buy a Ford unless it had "Escort RS Cosworth" on the back. I have had TVR's all my life. I crashed my first one at 3 years old. I *know* about the issues but I also know that a lot of them have no problems.

Have fun with the rest of your life in whatever you choose to drive. And god help the manufacturer.

Claire

PS...as for shopping...only if it can be done over the internet with a beer in my hand and it involves Tamiya.

My 96 Griff cost me approx £1500 per year to run doing 6K miles per year. It never let me down and neither of the other 6 TVR's I have owned have done so.

Having lots of trouble with a car you love is a pain and it is a shame the guy who started the thread has got to where he is with his TVR, but I think the bottom line is if you have a car like a TVR (or indeed any expensive car as all break and cost lots to fix) the running costs are generally pretty big and that has to be a factor in the purchase. I reckon that TVR ownership comes with the requirement to have 2-3 grand about just in case. if you have it to waste then buy the car and enjoy it. They are after all brilliant cars (subjectively and in many ways comapratively).

Now then....

Dear Mr Troll (TVRcritic).

It is no longer all that funny.

...Blithering on during breaks from your a-level revision or to relieve IT support boredom and in the process pissing off one of the most respected and useful members of the community here is as pathetic as it appears to be. There are plenty of forums on the net for that kind of shite, take it there. We are genuinely not interested and you are monumentally tedious.

I think we've just about heard enough of this now.

If you need an audience for your hatred of the marque, you are unlikely to find much appreciation on an Enthusiasts' forum. You are not adding much value here now. Please, either accept that these people have a different view to you and respect them for it, or find someone else to listen to your views.

As for everyone else, don't rise to it. We all know the cars have problems - some are better than others. Some people can live with it, others can't.

Who are the moderators on this forum?

TVR-cretin

I am glad you have nothing more to say than to resort to puerile speculation on my sexuality, it rather implies I had a point.

Bottom line is you don't like TVR's, you may or may not have ever owned one and frankly I don't care either way. You have said you don't like them, we have heard you. What is the point of saying more.

Yet you repeat yourself tirelessly, sniping at people from behind the safety of your keyboard whose dedication to their work and experience you could not come close to even with a lifetime of trying.

This thread had the chance to be useful, even if the topic was not a happy one, but the injection of your bad one line puns, silly put downs and classroom sexism has trashed it. You clearly have the intelligence of a single celled lifeform, so unless you have something constructive to say please return to the swamp from whence you came.

Prat.
