Griff Headlights

I have two questions. Firstly, I have some dust in the inside of the light pods on my Griff. There's also finger prints on the back of the glass, where it looks like a previous owner (for whatever reason) has had their hands in there.... Anyway, is there an easy way to get it out, or should I just put up with it? Secondly, I'm taking the Griff to Le Mans next month, and I know the French get a bit upset if you don't use beam deflectors. How do you fit beam deflectors on a Griff? Or do you just not bother?

I've never bothered with beam deflectors and never had any hassle as a result, and since it's summertime you probably won't dazzle anyone (esp. with the Griff headlights!).

Thanks for the info. The removal of dirt from the headlights looks like an involved procedure. Still, it does annoy me, so I can see it's worth the hassle, but may have to be a winter job.

As for the beam deflectors - How far were you from the circuit? I'm gonna be about 30mins away, but we'll probably leave the circuite late, so we should be OK.

I lived in Monaco for 18 months with my Griffith, sans beam benders. No hassle at all.

The Bristol pages are very thorough. The only thing I would add, having done the job myself, is that you should butter the pod's flanges with sealant before you 'splunge' it up into the hole. IMHO a bead round the edge just isn't strong enough on its own - kid leans on it - into the hole it falls - bugger!

I have a simple but annoying probleme with my Griff 500 nearside headlight.
When it came up for its first MOT last year I expected the beamsetting to be wrong and sure enough it was way too high. I took off the back cover and screwed the bottom wing adjuster to full down untl the light hit the car body. When I checked with the beam it was still above the MOT limit. I managed to persude the MOT tester at mu local garage (not TVR dealer) to turn a blnd eye to this. But this year the chap has been done over by the MOT folks and I dont think I will get away with it.I was planning to taker it to Fernie's but I have heard that they cna realy have to re-enginner the wing at lots of dosh. I never even drive the thing in the dark anyway as the lights are rubbish so its all a bit academic for me.
Does TVR's design really expect you to take the housing to bits as described here and file away at the body to pass the MOT or is there another way to adjust the light to a more downward angle to meet the regs?
Someone told me to adjust the other two settings but that would swing the beam too much sidways.
