Well guys, winter is here, so what do you want for your Growl this year?

To be honest with you, I feel this year we should maybe have a return to the layout of the first Growl, ie a meeting at a pub sunday lunchtime, especially with the Modified Meeting taking place this summer.

I appreciate how much work Paul and Andrea put into the Growl last year, and I for one don't have that amount of spare time this year. I also feel that any monies charged (like for the Bar-b-q, for instance), shouldn't be up to individuals to collect and be personally responsible for any shortages.

Any ideas/suggestions/insults feel free to chuck em in.

The only problem with a pub meet is once you exceed about 20 ~ 30 cars the pubs begin to be too small to hold you all.

The BBWF does not actually take much effort to organise - once you choose a venue (hotel ?) - it's pretty much left for everyone to just book their own accomodation.

If you want any help organising things maggit I'll do what I can. Don't have much time during the day but my evenings are pretty much available.

And it will give us an excuse to meet at a pub somewhere to discuss things

I quite enjoyed the Growl over 2 days so you can have an overnight stay and a few bevvies, talk with fellow Griff owners and hopefully after many drinks talk bcks.
I quite enjoyed last year's format. If it's just a pub meet and too far away it might not be worth the journey because of the time getting there and back.

The growl was superb, and us raving on here about it will surely make it a bigger success if it happens this year.

Howabout if it again took place over a weekend again, but a different overnight venue...such as the one used for Black tie & pie, nr Stratford on Avon??

perhaps shake things up so the saturday night is a "bit of a do"??? then show the cars off on sunday????

A "bit of a do", I like the sound of that.

I missed the original meet at the pub, but I did go to last year 2 day meet and it was fantastic. Everything was well thought out and well planned.
It would be nice to do a 2 dayer again with an overnight stay somewhere, but any type of meet will get a thumbs up from me.

Count me in - I couldn't go last year! Any idea what time of year it's likely to be?

The weather's likely to be better in July. A lot of people go on holiday in August - so probably best to avoid that month! Personally, July would be my preferred time (outside of school holiday time).

Right,

I've just had a word with Ettington Chase, where the BBWF is being held, and BTaP was held last year. They can accomodate us on the weekends of either August 6th or August 20th.

Does this suit?

I'll leave this open for answers till monday, then I'll contact them again. If anybody has a preference for anywhere else, or any other date, shout up.

To save duplicating info, if you'd like to check the BBWF thread on the Wedge Page, details are as per there.

If a mod would like to make this a sticky for a short time, thanks.

Personally, I can't make either date because I'm on holiday for most of August!

Don't panic, Mr. Mainwaring! Just stick a weekend in July that you'd like, the lady I need to speak to is off until monday, I'll report back if I can get a July date.

Don't forget, I'm not trying to railroad anybody into this venue, any suggestions welcome, but I have been there before, and the facilities (and big car park) are good.

That's the trouble with August .. loads of people take their holiday then.

From what I've been told - the TVR CC are looking to hold the main event in August and not September but it's not in concrete yet ..

Maggit - suggest you call Jeremy Blandford for the latest (see club mag).
