Run of bad luck ...
Discussion
As some of you already know, we’ve been having a bit of bad luck with our Griff in the last 12 months.
First - someone reversed into it on my works car park last June and foxtrot oscar’d without leaving insurance details – tracked her down through CCTV footage etc.
Second – engine dumped all of it’s oil through a hole in a cylinder head – major repair bill but we took advantage of a bad situation and went for a Taraka Upgrade which I have to say is totally brilliant! Thank you TVR Power – you are my heroes!
Third – last week, just as I was agreeing that I could have another TVR while mine’s off the road being repaired from bump number 1, some other lowlife also reverses into my car on my works car park and again departed without leaving me their details. Again, I’ve tracked them down through CCTV footage and this one should be easier ‘cos he’s admitted liability already.
To say I’m pi**ed off is an understatement – I can’t feckin’ believe it! It’s like I’m in a twilight zone with the accidents – there are so many similarities:
- Both were driving Astra’s
- I was parked in the same parking space both times
- Both of them reversed into the front/nearside wing
- Both fecked off without leaving contact or insurance details and have been reported to the Police (and I get a producer both times! – no justice…!)
- Both hit my car at 1615 hrs
- Both have been tracked down via the CCTV footage from work
I haven’t checked but it was probably on the same day of the week as well!!!!
Needless to say I am NEVER PARKING IN THAT SPACE AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE – no matter what car I’m in, it’s not going in that space!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, rant over for now.
Good thing is I’ve got a Tuscan to play with for a few weeks, which is way cool and totally ace – always look on the bright side of life …

I always park the Cerbera out of the way at work. We have an area of Car Park that just have the nice cars parked in it. Its a long walk to the office but thats the choice you take, park far away in a nice open space or park close and just be able to squeez out of the car!
Nice to hear that you caught the offenders. Even though I work on a large International Airport I have come across stories of people asking to see CCTV film and being told they are not allowed to see it!!!

I've caught a couple of people run into the front of my Griff over the years. I believe it's generally a bit hard to see from a modern mini-MPV like hatch. Also, some people just don't appreciate the length of the bonnet. I always park the griff so that the nose is against a wall. The rear is a bit easier to judge, distance wise.
I know it won't be much consolation now, but it might be worth trying in the future.
Not that any of this excuses the arrogant, low-life, moronic attitude of leaving without admitting liability. It should be an offense to do so, even on public property (although banger racing could be a bit difficult).

It is an offense - bump no. 1 driver is being done for failing to stop, failing to report and dangerous driving without due care and attention! Don't know what's gonna happen to bump no. 2 driver yet! It doesn't count as private property because entry to the car park is open to any member of the public - something which driver no. 1 found out to her cost when she had a go at the Police!
I don't have the luxury of parking away from everyone else as it's all numbered, allocated parking spaces but I've refused to park there again and so I've swoped with a colleague who's got a Rav 4 - highliy visible from anyone's rear view!! Hopefully - otherwise she'll never forgive me!!

At least you've got a Tuscan and hopefully the Griff will be back soon.
It's good to hear that some people are getting their comeupance when f-ing off from an accident. Hope they get what they deserve. Someone did it to my mini when I was younger and left me needing a new front end.
But chin up, soon you'll have a nice shiney new fronted Griff with the Taraka upgrade, just in time for summer!
