Griff LE 7" Headlights.

Well here they are. I must say i'm very impressed with the Dip beam output and beam pattern from the 7" lenses.

Main beam is even better with the 60w H4 Bulb and the original spots.

Offside still independant power supply as Mod-wise kit, All 50%+ Philips Vision Plus bulbs.

And a few more...

So when you remove the fairings on the old ones does the whole gubbings come out i.e the headlamp inc fairing etc

Or can you just take the perspex off for a respray etc perhaps?

Thanks

That looks like the most important mod you can do to the feeble standard lights.

What kind of cost?

Hi Rob, to do anything on the old ones the whole pod has to come out, take a closer look at Pic 1 & 2

Cheers Paul, i wanted to keep the original single lamp behind cover look and am very very happy with how it's come out

As for cost:
Lens's £65 pair (lenses are cheaper than the original Cibie's)
Pod's £100 pair
Perspex covers £130 pair (probably could re-use old ones)
Bulbs £18
all approx

LE Pod's (as far as i know) are not sold to anyone without a LE/chassis number

I think it would be possible to make the old pod's accept a 7" lens.
Looking at the new pod's, they looked like the old ones with about 3" inches cut off the rear and a cylindrical section added to accept the new lens. They had small lip to locate the new lens on. I'm sure someone who had the time & skill would be able to do this.

So are you willing to share the part numbers for the lamps?

I think they look ALOT better than the originals.

I've only got the TVR part Nr M1638 Listed as Chimp,Tam,Late griff...

When i spoke with Hella the said they only do two 7" i might have the part number at work, or will have a look at the lens (when sober )

James, Any dealer can order them, sorry about this but the guy who got them asked that i not tell the world as he had enough trouble getting them for me. Also might look a bit strange him repairing loads of front end damaged LE Griffs

As i said it does look like the original pod's can be converted

Sorry i can't be more help on this...

TVR really are a strange bunch. Obviously anyone with a bit of ability using fibre glass could make the pods using one as a mould/cast etc. Perhaps ACT might do a nice line in carbon fibre ones? Anyway the point being I cannot see any reason why it's in TVR's interest to restrict sales of the pods for owners of Griff's to upgrade their 5" lights? All very strange if you ask me Rich...

I know of another Griff being done this week down in the West. As Del says, you could probably just cut the original pod down to accept the new assembly, i have my old ones so i will take a look.
