Am thinking of fitting an Alloy radiator to the Griff, have done a search but not come up with much.
Have found a company called Radtec, anyone fitted one and any ideas of cost for supply only.
Will fit it myself

Thanks in advance.

www.dockingengineering.com who are based at Silverstone, can't remember the price but were competetive at the time and good quality.

IIRC ACT are a Radtec dealer, fitted by Austec. Not got one myself, but I know they had very favourable write ups when I used to do Minis (although very expensive for a mini).

I bought mine direct from RadTec, ACT was on holiday at the time. Very friendly and helpful people, they'd forgotten the bleed screw on mine but quickly sent a couple when I let them know.

The only thing I had to do with mine was cut and reshape the side mounting brackets but I think this is the norm, I wish I'd known at the time as they made mine up after I'd ordered and probably would have moved the position before welding.

Gary,
Retail I think is £380 + VAT or is it £280 (£280 sounds too low). Got mine slightly damaged for £200 and collected from Cannock, where they are made.
They are a tight fit as they are wider than standard and you have to get it in the car to see where to drill the holes. Took me (& Mrs FFG) the whole weekend and ended up with bad backs through constant leaning in, lifting and maneuovering. Runs at least 10 degrees cooler, in fact now runs at 75 ish on the mpve and 80 in traffic slowly rising. Fitted silicon hoses and David Beers 1/2 speed kit which is set to 80. The full speed fans very very rarely come on now.
Worthwhile investment in my book.

Recently had my original rad re-cored due to a leak, they used a more modern high efficient core with better air-flow and it runs much cooler now.
Company was Essex County Rads and the cost was £150 ish.....Fitted it myself....

Sorry for delay chaps its been a long day...

Paul, thats exactly what I'm after 10 Deg cooler I would be much happier as I'm sure so would a lot of other Griff owners.
I will probably go for David's fan kit too, already have silicon hoses and stainless swan necks etc.
Thanks to all the other guys for your input and recommendations, very helpful I will be doing some phoning round over next few days.

Gavin, I will be using your guide too. cheers.

My Griff has eaten 3 radiators in 7 years; I think the vibration/shock kills them. Would an ally rad be any better?

I am on my second Radtec radiator - it suffered vibration/mounting flex damage as far as we know from the investigations.

Radtec took it back and made some revisions to the design (all under warranty) so it shouldn't happen again. 6 months later and so far, so good.

I've heard this and indeed my S3c had a couple of rad's and still generated a leak after 18 months of the new one but my Griff, which is now 7 1/2 years old, has been fine. I wonder what causes some to crack and others not? Theory is that the chassis flexes which twists the rad as it's bolted across the front of the car, but I can't see that because it's fixed to the fibreglass shell not the chassis. Rich...

Hi folks,
investigation into prices and types still ongoing.

So far:
Tvrcarparts---£395.00 plus vodka & tonic (have a feeling these are bought in from maybe Radtec or similar)

Radtec---£380.00 plus value added tax complete with fan cowl

Dockingengineering---£332.50 plus the dreaded NO FAN COWL

Still waiting for a reply from a company called PROALLOY Anyone had any dealings with...?

Also forgot Leven.... Anyone know their current price and do they come with fan cowl...?

Gsw500 Cheers

They don't use fan cowls because they're bolted striaght to the rad. Quite a neat job IMHO.

Howard,
does this rad come with fixing points for the two fans then.
Have seen this on some other standard rads and looks very flimsy if you know what I mean.
Although I have a standard rad on the griff it has a cowling which I think not only makes it look neater but it looks more robust.
I havent seen this type of cowling on other griffs so wonder if its an after market item which has modified things.
Hopefully some of you can prove me wrong and say you have a fan cowl too..
not inc the alloy rad boys

Bolted straight to the rad is pretty horrible, it works far far better if it is fitted with a cowl.
