Has anybody had this problem before?

Whenever I pull up to traffic lights or am in a long queue, the clutch starts to ride up while I am on the biting point. The actual pedal stays where it is, but I find myself going forward and the only way to stop, is to stall it as it wont drop out of gear. As you pull away you can feel the pedal slowly building up pressure again, and so normal driving remains unaffected. Its only when I am stationary and have the pedal down for more than a few seconds.

Any ideas?

Leak in the hydraulic system causing the plates to push back on the actuator rod. Check the fluid level and look for leaks especially in the footwell behind the carpet. Could be duff seals in the master/slave cylinders as well.

Is this happening when you pull away or are you talking about holding the car on the clutch while waiting at traffic lights (hopefully not as that's a good way to buying a new clutch)?

It happens in the short period between taking the handbrake off and actually pulling away. Obviously, the longer my foot is down on the pedal the more severe it becomes, but no - im not a clutch rider!!

Thanks for the advice - I will check my slave tonight, im sure I left her ironing my socks!
