Hey guys, thinking of doing my driving licence and getting a Mini for the four months i'm off University over the summer (I was learning to drive a while ago, but the driving instructor was a pratt and then when I had the money again, I was about to go to London for University so not much point in having a car there!). Anyway, I was wondering what a Mini is like for a first car? Also, what sort of price could I expect to pay for one? I'm not really looking for a pristine one, as long as it runs that's fine by me, I plan to repaint it anyway, and the age of it doesn't bother me either, as an old car nut the older the better really!

Cheers, Rob

Sounds good to me - i'd hate to have a car I wouldn't be able to get my hands dirty on! I'm one of those people who love finding out how things work, so although at the minute I know next to nothing about how cars work (plenty about planes though if you ever have a broken Spitfire!), hopefully a Mini will also give me some practical experience in finding out and a good reason to buy a tool set
