The Navtec system? in my new DiscoSport is the worst ever, so much so after my hols this week, I used my iPhone instead and I am writing to LR lodging my complete dissatisfaction with it. No town/village names, route planning taking you down the smallest back roads known to man. No option to use 'A' 'B' roads only etc., my 2010MY FL2 was far better and that was 10+ years old compared to this rubbish......
Maybe the extra £25k in a Rangie will be far superior, well at least I would hope so!
I've got the latest one in the L405 FFRR and it sounds similar to your one. It's a good job the rest of the car is so good! Maybe the extra £25k in a Rangie will be far superior, well at least I would hope so!
to be honest - the cheapest say Tom Tom is better than the Range Rover system - its old and 'clunky' - not what you would expect on a circa £100K car
also now the system is not 'disc' based you cannot get a deal on Ebay
best use your phone with an app
as to the L405 - could be great but far too many problems which LR refuse to acknowledge
if only Toyota/Honda made the Range Rover?

I made myself a promise that I wouldn't buy another LR until they'd sorted the nav system, I do like the RRS and in many respects would be the ideal daily for me, so any definitive announcement on an upgraded system would be most interesting. I won't be changing for another 12-18 months.

JLR are members of the Carplay consortium, but have already licensed the connected car platform - "InControl" - for their products. You can already use Sygic on the touch screen running from an iPhone/Android device, for example..
Eh?CarPlay, from Apple - https://www.apple.com/uk/ios/carplay/ - has JLR as partners. But JLR have licensed
InControl Apps as a platform - http://www.landrover.co.uk/ownership/incontrol-and... - is a Connect Car platform from Nokia (I think) and interfaces to software running on an iOS/Android device, such as
Sygic, the SatNav system - https://www.sygic.com/car-navigation/features

I say this every time I drive a RR or Disco but unfortunately always give in and buy another No other similar cars can offer the same ride comfort, practicality and most iimportantly for someone who changes every few months, resale value. Hope they will sort out their nav systems and ridiculous control systems soon but unless they follow BMW example I think they will be rubbish for a long time to come. They need to spend money and sort out their poor systems instead of gimmics like see through bonnets etc.
