MPG is more or less the same for Discovery and Rangie. My old RR 4.6 averaged 17mpg and my current Disco 4.0 does the same. I did try to see if the consumption got much better by driving it slower and it only improved by 1 or 2mpg. So gave up driving it gently and went back to enjoying it

Until you realise it's the same dash as LDV vans. Kinda spoils the exclusivity.

The 4.0's don't have the same same engine probs as the 4.6's. The 4.0's do run cooler, compared to the 4.6's which ARE bored out. On high miler cars, it has been known for the cylinders to where through, so a V8 turned into a V7!

The 4.0's are cheaper than the 4.6's, we averaged 20-25mpg in ours. Would recommend either. Had Epsom Green also, have no idea why they are undesirable thought they one of the best colours on the P38???
