it could well be true, you only have to look in land rover magazines, people are forever restoring what appears to be a pile of rust to a mint landy, and for very old motors they hold they money well.

Can't be, I've made one out of three - 33% on the road

Land Rover has come a long way from being a company producing a single model in the post-war years. Production figures have always been on the increase since 1948, with samples as follows:

1948 3,048
1950 16,000
up to 1958 200,000
up to 1966 500,000
1971 56,663
1983 70,000
1996 100,000

This proves that over 50 years, Land Rover has become more and more popular as new models were launched, each with improved levels of ability and comfort. An interesting fact is that about 75% of all Land Rovers built are still on the roads today.

1998: 153.500
1999: 178.000

Bear in mind, that the 70%-statistics rely on that more Landrovers were built in the last 20 years, than in the first 30.

That's my mates website, fantastic isn't it

The first ever Land Rover built is still in on the roads today, so they don't have many quibbles with completely dying, I think it's entirely possible that 70% of Landy's are still about.

This is exactly what I like on Landrovers: they are built for the purpose, and you can dismantle the windows if you want although I prefer Unix to Windows

Been considering replacing my diesel Landy with a range rover (V8 tractor with air con), but service/repair costs put me off, you can fix most things on a landy with 1 spanner string and chewing gum, same can't be said for RR with a/c, abs, air suspension etc!

Both are great cars in their own way. More like comparing unix and linux than unix and windows!
