2005 Sat Nav and Multimedia
Discussion
Hi all does anyone know if it is possible to change over the older multimedia/nav unit which is in my '05 RR Vogue for a newer version with touchscreen Sat Nav? I have the following older unit which is really naff and I could do with bluetooth in my car.
I would like to swap it with this.... Is it just a case of swapping them out or are any modules or additional components required for the bluetooth and any other functions?

Quick answer is no. Your car is one of the last "old" BMW based ones. I has a 54 plate touchscreen which was called a crossover as it was a 05MY car.
It uses a totally different network to communicate via. The touchscreen is on a fibre optic MOST system & the old unit is wired. Someone very techy may come along & talk about CANBUS & what not but unless you rewire the car, you are shagged on that upgrade.
Most people upgrade to the Mk 4 BMW nav unit such as this which is plug & play. It is also DVD based & you can buy the latest maps on ebay very cheaply with those kind (ahem) "backup" DVD resellers nudge nudge, wink wink!

Regarding Bluetooth, again you can fit a newer BMW system here. Loads of info on the fullfatrr.com Wiki site:
