Even if you end up selling them at a loss you will have spent less than £2.50 testing the market. You will then know what you CAN sell them for, and so work backwards from there to cut your purchasing costs down - that's how you work out your projected profit smile

Then you need to drive sales.

Do loads of people in your school have facebook? If so you can set a trend via that, and get everyone doing the same stupid pose or something, then sell them keyrings with their photo or the name of the funny face on it.

I'll give you one idea for nothing. The foo foo. A cunning disguise used to attract the foo foo.

All you need to do is borrow a digi camera and start a group on facebook. Both free of charge wink

Ok Iv just bought 5 keyrings from ebay for £2.50 that includes p+p. Seems a bit too much and Il will only get less than £2.50 profit hopefully. Doesnt seem worth it.
That's 100% markup and £2.50 for 10 mins work.
If it works, maybe spend the £5 and get some more.

Worst scenario is £5 down
Best scenario is £10 in your pocket smile
I suppose so. Maybe having it as a specialised keyring I could bump it up to £1.20 as the cutomer can request a picture of choiceidea if I sold the 5 it would be £6 and the Net profit would be £3.50.

Only on PH could a 17 year old interested in selling keyrings receive a marketing plan, source commercial suppliers and get a demonstration of creating profit on a £2.50 project laugh

Awesome thumbup

You do realise if this doesn't end up buying your second car we will throw you to the lions? wink

As others have said a 100% profit is damn good.

I bought 800 nail brushes a year ago for 10p each and sold them at £2 each or £15 for 10 via ebay upsetting a lot of regular suppliers in the process.

I also made a nice bit of profit that paid for the majority of a trip to new york biggrin

Your foo foo (or whatever) keyring will be unique, and can have whatever photo you like on there. Also, if you took the photos then there will be no copywright problems. If it's unique (who else at your school would think of doing this?), you can sell them at a slight premium, boosting your profit even further.

You may find that the trend continues into other local schools and you can flog them there!

Real feel-good thread. Nice to see someone wanting to make a few quid, rather than moaning how st it all is.

Good luck to the OP. smile

I bought them thinking they were paintbrushes for models and would have been happy making a few quid on the job lot to a mate that runs a model train website. Bbefore I saw him I googled the name on the boxes and found people offering them for 4.99 each on ebay, I was shocked but very happy.

Yes I would smile

Sell a few and get used to making them, then let me know what price you can do 500 for. I'll even help you find a supplier.
