I know this is a bit random, but I need to do a business plan for my enterprise module at University which I've decided to write on a Pizza takeaway business.

I just wanted to ask peoples oppinions, views, recommendations etc for this area of business.

-What do you like to see in a pizza takeaway?
-What dont you like to see in a pizza takeaway?
-Who do you use? - like indepedant/local pizza place or franchised chain.
-Favourite Pizzas?
-Favourite side orders? - desserts, starters, drinks.
-What style of pizza they prefer and why? Deep pan/thin crust, crust or no crust,
-Which sauce? traditional herb strong sauces like restaurants or the generic pizza place tomato sauce.
-How long do you normally wait for deliveries? (or long you expect to wait within reason)
-Any recommendations on how to improve a pizza takeaway business? - New products, service, etc.
-Marketing such a business - any ideas that would work alongside the norm of putting out menus.

Thanx for any help,

Every participant is entitled to free pizza in my imaginary business wink

All I will say is this - if you must shove leaflets through doors, telling everyone about your fabby home delivery service, don't shove leaflets through doors in places that you don't ever intend delivering to! mad

Other than that, I have no idea what advice to offer. But good luck anyway. smile

ETA: And don't forget to do a banana and tuna pizza. yum

Frankly I'm amazed takeaway Pizza businesses can survive when Sainsburys sells them for a fraction of the price and they're ready in 12 minutes. 12 minutes is all - and they're hot and good and you DON'T need to deal with the delivery chav on his scooter who never has the right change and expects a tip even though it took an hour and damn thing is cold.

If you want a delivery it needs to be curry. yesbiggrin

Golden rule of any business..expenses down, profits up......teacher

When looking for premises you have to take great care you don't sign up for a lease that is going to financially cripple you, on the other hand, no point being down a quiet side street where there is no footfall, unless your business is mainly home delivery based.....This is a very fine line...No point taking £3000pw if your rent and rates are £1500............

There is a game based on Pizza takeaways, used on some management courses. You all get different locations and have to model the business to fit the market it's in and deal with various things that come along. It is partly computer based and partly desktop. I can't remember it's name, but it was quite good. maybe worth you having a search for it, it would generate your project for you!

Indeed. Sage advice. Make sure all the pizzas have garlic on and this won't be a problem.

-What do they like to see in a pizza takeaway?
Meat and cleanliness, pizza sauce gets messy quickly and I think it looks effing minging when its dried up on the side

-What dont they like to see in a pizza takeaway?
Drunk people

-Who do you use? - like indepedant/local pizza place or franchised chain.
Local one call Perfect Pizza, don't know if its a chain.

-Favourite Pizzas?
BBQ Sauce (instead of pizza sauce) and as much meat as humanly possible

-Favourite side orders? - desserts, starters, drinks.
Don't normally order them as the portions are pitiful but the Mrs has ordered a 10" garlic bread pizza thing before that was quite nice.

-What style of pizza they prefer and why? Deep pan/thin crust, crust or no crust,
Thin crust or stuffed crust.

-Which sauce? traditional herb strong sauces like restaurants or the generic pizza place tomato sauce.
BBQ

-How long do you normally wait for deliveries? (or long you expect to wait within reason)
45mins, anything over the hour and I kick off.

-Any recommendations on how to improve a pizza takeaway business? - New products, service, etc.
Don't try and fool people with BOGOF for 14.99 or Just one for 7.50 - that pisses me right the fk off. Bigger side portions would be nice, we all know you are making a mint on them anyway, stop being tight!

Bigger Discounts on massive orders. My mate lives in a house of students and they regually chip money intogether to get take out, but normally pizza places just arn't that competitively priced for 6 people (who are all bloody hungry!)

-Marketing such a business - any ideas that would work alongside the norm of putting out menus.
The only place I have every looked at is menus that come through the door. Budget for a great phone number too as thats how I remember mine.

Hope that helps. If you hadn't guess my imaginary pizza will be a BBQ based stuffed crust meat feast.

Many Thanks

Make these: ideal for a summer snack whilst strolling through the shopping centre. Means you can push the pram with one hand at the same time.
