Could anyone take me through the stages of starting a business from concept to trading?
I know alot of people on here run their own so i thought it'd be the best place for advice, i'm considering it and if i'm to do it, i'd like to A) make sure its worth it and B) make sure its done properly from start to finish.

Every different product/service has a completely different business model so we must know more.
There is no point sayin "Well first you find premises and fit out a large kitchen with counters and guest tables" if you are going to sell insurance.

3. Don't take a holiday for three years
4. Worry 24 hours a day
5. Expect the Govt to screw it all up for you

No, i know that, i'm not even thinking that far ahead, i'm asking where do you go once you have decided you want to take your idea to the next level.
I dont need to be looking at spending money on units ect, i have a workshop which easily transforms into a store room. The business would be internet based to keep over heads down and the product would come from within the EU, so the only thing that i need to worry about really is the strengh of the pound against the euro.
Any money i need would be for stock, i work for a design company so i could get my site sorted on the cheap to a decent standard.

Work out what you'll need to start your business, what you think you'll sell, then double the costs and halve what you sell and you'll be just about right there.
Keep all invoices for anything you purchase.
Talk to an accountant, they will advise you (based on your business plan) as to whether you should go Limited or trade as a sole trader or other (maybe).
They will then talk you through how to keep records, how to invoice etc, what taxes/paperwork need to be paid/submitted when and to who (usually do this for you - for a fee
