Can you upgrade the OS on an SII to Android 4.0 and beyond?
http://pages.samsung.com/ca/androidupgrade/English... suggests it is possible.

Can you explain the TV thing? Never understood what it did.
Plug your phone into an HDMI port on your telly and watch a film from it on the big screen.GuinnessMK said:

Yep, upgraded my unlocked phone to 4.0.4 several months ago over the air and it works great. Just go into Settings > About phone > Software update.http://pages.samsung.com/ca/androidupgrade/English... suggests it is possible.
Just make sure you back your stuff up because it resets everything.

Mine is running 4.2.1
Any news on Key Lime Pie?
4.2.2 Any news on Key Lime Pie?
Was on an earlier CM10.1 and battery wasn't that great, but upgraded to the latest nightly the other night (17th I think) and it's really good again now.
Me too now. Agree about the battery thing.

Don't forget if you have an MHL enabled TV you can control the device with the TV remote which is really cool.
Wait, WUT?Tycho said:
In work we have Bravia TVs and if you plug in your S2 to the HDMI input via an MHL lead you can control the phone through the TV remote. It is fairly basic i.e. cursor control, select and back keys but it it useful if you are watching a movie and need to pause etc. Your TV needs MHL-CEC functionality but I think most recent ones will have this.
Will need to test this this evening! ZesPak said:

Will need to test this this evening! Update: Plugged in my phone today, opened Kies and got an update message
5 minutes later and I'm running 4.1. Initially don't notice that much difference, UI looks a bit "fresher". The screen when you're calling is completely revamped apparently and some other stuff, new homescreen with widgets possible,...

I smashed the screen on mine last Friday, and felt very sad. Even sadder at £80 for a new one!
Anyone replaced a screen themselves? There's a lovely teardown guide on YouTube, but any real world experiences would be great.
I stripped mine down when mine went through water damage, don't remember it being worse than any other phone to do, ended up putting it back together and paid £100 for supply & fit from a local phone place (in Stoke) and they lent me a Nokia for the day so didn't seem worth trying to do it myself.Anyone replaced a screen themselves?
