And +1,000,000 on the pointlessness of lossless music. All mine is mp3 at 320k and for in-car or out-and-about listening, that's more than adequate. If it wasn't already ripped at that bitrate I'd happily try 256 or 192 and that would probably be ok as well.
I don't mind admitting that I can't even hear the difference between a good MP3 and a lossless file even in my own living room, played back through, what would have been when new, £1,200 worth of audiophile seperates!

The default keyboard supports swyping and I personally find it as good as any of the alternatives.

Mine has locked up a couple of times now. I've gone to check it with a quick press of the power button in the morning to find it totally unresponsive and I have to hold down the button for a forced reboot.

Means I can't trust it to wake me with the alarm clock.
Try a factory reset, and if that doesn't fix it, send it back.

The only time my phone has completely frozen up, is when using google earth. Try it people (on the Nexus 4). Load google earth, try and rotate the screen a few times, after a while, it may freeze your entire phone.

I've googled it and it would appear to be a known about issue going back months.

Part of it is the utterly ridiculous desire for more and more megapixels, I cringed when I read about the S4s 13MP camera.
I am very tempted by the HTC One and they clearly have the right idea with their camera.
If you're willing to consider WP8, then the Nokia 920 is even better than the One camera, especially its now had the Portico upgrade. The low light performance on the Lumia is possibly better and the outdoor stuff is better again as the Ones lack of MP count against it.

Again, I find the N4 camera acceptable for a phone, but I dont rate any camera on a phone compared to even a fairly old compact, but the Lumia 920 comes closest for me, but there are a lack of features compared with the Android stuff.

Serious post now, anyone here have the official bumper?

I do, and quite frankly, its rubbish. I mean, it looks nice enough, I can't deny that, but it constantly slips off the bottom left corner while it's in my (jeans) pocket - admittedly, it's a slightly tight fit, but nothing crazy. This is infuriating, and unforgivable because it doesn't even really offer much protection either; I knew this when I bought it, and was willing to put up with it, but the fact it can't even stay on the phone properly is a deal breaker.

The really weird thing is, when you examine it in your hand, when its on properly, it appears to fit fine, it just doesn't stay on the phone once its been in my pocket for a couple of minutes of moving around / sitting down etc.

I've gone back to using a £2 TPU case I got locally which still looks OK, but offers far more protection and actually stays on the phone.

Still, I should be able to flog it for a tenner. What a waste of money.

I can't really put the phone in a trouser pocket because it's so big, it's uncomfortable whenever I sit. So I don't get the bumper issue described above. I tend to either put it in a shirt pocket, my jacket pocket, or the side pocket of a pair of combats.
It's a Nexus 4 not a Galaxy Note 2! biggrin

I had the latter before the Nexus 4 and that is a big beast alright. The Nexus 4 doesn't really seem large at all compared to most high end smartphones these days.

I've got the official bumper and don't have this problem - however I don't wear tight jeans! Seriously though, just had a feel of it and it doesn't feel like it would easily slip off.
That's just it though, when its in my hand it feels like it will stay on, but as soon as it goes in my jeans pocket, and I start crouching down or sitting, it'll come straight off.

I don't wear anything that could be described as tight, they just have normal sized pockets.

It's frustrating because I like the design and look and feel of the bumper, but it just seems useless.

TRD - don't sit while yer phone is in yer pocket!

I've been putting phones in my back pocket since I first got a mobile back in the 90's, and it's second nature to take it out before I sit down.
Who said anything about back pocket? wink

I always keep it in my right hand pocket, and if I get into the habit of taking it out when I sit down or squat (as I have to do regularly in my job, and not just taking a dump, either), then I would almost certainly end up losing the phone hehe

Regarding the GPS, I've had two Nexus 4's the first was an early revision, and the GPS was hit and miss on that phone, my current latest revision one is always very fast.

Open Nexus 4 (or choose Open Device to view files)

In there you should see "Internal Storage" open that.

Open the DCIM folder, there should be a Camera folder in there with your pictures.

Drag and drop to wherever you want them.

If not, anyone could access anything and everything on an otherwise locked phone by simply plugging it into a computer.
They can.

They can also access anything on a MicroSDHC card, by removing the card and popping it into a card reader.

Phones aren't secure, and never have been. If you get access to the physical hardware, anything not encrypted is fair game.

C
What he said, basically.

I've never ever had to unlock my phone to be able to see the files on it, and yes, it's not secure, there are solutions to this, but out of the box, anyone can access the files on it just by simply plugging it in to any windows PC with no changes required.

You don't use a PIN or better to lock Nexus 4 then. With PIN set you have to unlock it to view files via windows explorer.
Well I never, you are correct! I've just tested it.

I never normally use a PIN hence I didn't know any better.

Apologies getmecoat

If its anything like Nova, you can hold down an element for a few seconds and it should pop up a dialogue box asking if you want to unlock it.

Or, you'll have to access the Apex settings, probably by going into the App Drawer and there may be a menu in the top right which gives you access to those settings.

I don't use Apex so I can't say for certain whether these tricks will work.
