Depends if you are looking to buy one. Depreciation wise the iPad 2 will be worth less when the next ipad is out so it probably is worth getting the newest one with added shiny bits for £70 more.

I wanted to be excited by this and upgrade my iPad 1 but it still doesn't seem worthwhile, even since iOS 5 ballsed it up (frequent Safari crashes). I think I will wait and see what Nokia come up with for a Windows 8 tablet.

Really good prices there, as I was expecting a $=£ price. $699 = £559 for my ipad 3 64gb wifi is a bargain.
how is that good value exchange rate puts $699 at £450ish??

Well I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a revamp, it's a bit similar to the iphone 4-4S upgrade.

So I'm off to get a ipad 2 from ebay I think. If they're on at £250 I think thats a good deal.

If anyone wants to sell theirs without any ebay hassle, PM me.

But you haven't allowed for any sales tax to the US price?

Anyway to my eyes £559 is a bargain. You may think different.

I must admit that I'm a little underwhelmed with this release - I did expect a bit of a change in the appearance of the thing (I always struggle with the dock connector with the iPad 2).

I'm due to get one out in the US in a couple of weeks time (that was the plan anyway!), but I'm really not sure as to whether to buy the bloody thing at all now!

Will the 4G model ever work fully in the UK? Aside from the UK commercial rollout on 4G being at least a year away (by which time there'll probably an iPad 4), aren't UK carriers planning to use a different frequency to the Americans?

Something like the Americans are using 700Mhz where we're planning to use 900 and 1800Mhz mainly with 800Mhz to be auctioned off for 4G once the Digital Switchover is complete. I know HSDPA should it give a speed boost over the iPad 2 but even so they'll have to be careful calling it "4G" here.

LTE (700, 2100 MHz)2; UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Data only3

Covers a few different frequencies?

Does anyone know which is the correct 4G version to buy in the US to work over here (at 3G speeds for now I guess), Verizon or AT&T?

UK prices are inclusive of VAT, the USA prices are plus sales tax. You also need to factor in the fact that our VAT is a rip off compared to theirs frown
