It's good to see that the UK release date is the same as the US.. I can't wait to get my hands on one.
It's time like this that I love working for o2..

Depending on price I'll have one on launch day I think. Just the thing to replace my utterly crap old HTC Touch Dual. Can't wait to get rid of the POS!
My iPhone 4 will be replacing an HTC Touch, so a pretty similar leap forward to you. It was quite a neat small handset when I got it though...Edited by Ved on Monday 7th June 21:35

OK, I'm certainly not an Apple fan, and much of the fanboy stuff actually puts me off their products, but having just watched the video for the new phone I am left wondering if Apple have been just a little bit hidden away from reality over the last few years. Video calling, only iphone to iphone and only when on wi-fi - isn't that somewhat restricting and something that could be done about the same with two webcams which could be connected or built in to anything, or has been available, but not used, on almost all 3G phones? Making a fuss about a 5mp camera with an LED flash? I had that on my phone when the iphone was first introduced. 720p video, not exactly new. Multi-tasking, what a novelty, a couple of generations ago my Sony Ericsson phone was doing that.
The screen looks great, I am sure it will be nice to operate, but the guys on the video do seem a bit full of themselves whilst ignorant of what else is available.
Sorry, it had to be said

I got my 3G in May of last year so I really hope o2 do something for an upgrade!
My plan was to simply buy a PAYG iPhone 4 and put my sim in there but as it uses the micro sim I won't be able to do that.
Fingers crossed o2 are really kind and let me upgrade early, for extra cost of course.

Everything you said was true, and we all know that, but I for one, still want one, my brain even tells me I should research android phones, but I just know that it won't be an iPhone. The screen looks great, I am sure it will be nice to operate, but the guys on the video do seem a bit full of themselves whilst ignorant of what else is available.

I do agree without about the people on the video, I can't stand American 'corporate' high up marketing crap like that, the american part of the company I work for do it too, and whenever we see it we want to hide away and pretend we're not part of it.
Come 24th though, I'll be (probably 3074th) in line.

I agree with the timesacles you mention and much isn't new, but isn't it still a fact that although they may seem behind, then way it works is lightyears ahead of the competition. The screen looks great, I am sure it will be nice to operate, but the guys on the video do seem a bit full of themselves whilst ignorant of what else is available.

I run a business and we've had nokia and samsung phones over the years and none of them do what apple do as well. To set up an iPhone to communicate with exchange takes seconds and works. To set up a nokia or samsung phone takes forever and often is troublesome.
But then I like apple
