I always follow these torch threads...
I'm after something with 200-300 lumens, li-ion rechargables
Not too concerned about close-up... I have a led lantern for reading/chilling in the tent.
So enough spill to find stuff in the garage, and enough throw to see accross the campsite.
Like the tactical switches in the base, not too concerned about strobe etc, simple low med and high outputs. Ideally 1x battery so t fits in the palm of hand.. Poss 2 though if runtime is. Much better.
Which torch??

How about this, 3 modes, fits in your palm, tactical switch, takes one 18650 battery (body extenders are available), 320 lumens, good mix of throw and spill $24.99I'm after something with 200-300 lumens, li-ion rechargables

I find I'm using this one rather a lot at the moment, quick smooth zoom, plenty of lumens day-to-day.I'm after something with 200-300 lumens, li-ion rechargables

I have one of those and I find the flood a bit weak and the throw has a very narrow beam, good value though.
I tend to only open it to half flood to keep some brightness, but the full flood does put useable light over the whole of my back garden. I think it tries to do too much, but for the money and for everyday stuff, it's hard to beat IMO. I've got other options if I need (want *cough*) LOTS of light For example a T6 which has a lousy beam pattern but plenty of lumens (maybe 800 - 1600is really stretching it), is still flood-to-throw, and costs about a quarter of what I paid for a Tiablo AceG (fixed focus, good bean pattern, approx 900 real lumens) a year or two ago.I am a bit hooked on flood-to-throw, mind you You pay in terms of beam pattern quality, but gain so much in functionality.

It would seem that a lot of people took up your advice as this now seems to be sold out!Glade said:
Passing ebay links for these over to the mrs... (my birthday this month)
"What do you want a stupid torch for?"
You've just made me very happy with my Mrs - from the subtle questions it seems like purchase of this is happening. No "what do you need that for" questions, just acceptance of my problem ;-)"What do you want a stupid torch for?"
OK. My Olight SR51 Intimidator just arrive from Hong Kong, along with a 18650 charger, 4 x 18650s and 2 boxes for the 18650s. However I have had to order the 18650 adaptor, as it didn't come with it.
So this is now on it's way from Singapore. The total cost will be £107 for the lot. Which I think is probably OK.
Short of buying 6 CR123As to go in it as it is, I think I'll wait for the other adaptor to come, but the case and torch seem nicely weighted.
900 lumens of power will soon be available, which hopefully should scare off the foxes.

Got this today.http://www.mte-led.com/show_imgnews.asp?id=461&...

God, is it tiny. And bright. Way, way, way bright.
Compared it to my old "brightest torch" (Tesco 3W LED 2 x D cell) and it made the Tesco one look like a candle.
The MTE was £66 from here

Tesco don't sell the 2D cell torch anymore
