I have a problem - my iPhone doesn't seem to be recognised by iPhoto anymore. I tried image capture, but that doesn't recognise it either.

iPhone 4 - iOS 5.0.1
OSX Lion 10.7.2
iPhoto '09 8.1.2

So this all is up to date. It's been going on a while and half works half doesn't. iTunes always recognises it no problem. I've done a search but although there is a few with this problem, there seems no solution.
Why not use Image Capture in the Applications? That's what i've been using to get all the footage and pictures off my mates iPhones for yonks.

Might as well add my contribution to this thread.. Anyone noticed with the latest version of Skype that growl displays messages from contacts but the Skype program doesn't? Really beginning to annoy me!

That's the problem, I opened Image Capture, and that didn't recognise the iPhone either.

have you tried the preference in iPhoto?

never used image capture, sorry. There was a thread on the apple support forum recently, and the chap had to upgrade to iPhoto '11. I see no reason why it shouldn't be fixable in iPhoto '09 though.

Can you post a screenshot? I've got textedit open, and can't see what you are seeing.

cmd+4 to select an area to take a screenshot.

how do you get a screenshot from your computer to PH, i usually use my phone or iPad with photo bucket but thought from the iMac it would have been easy.

I just take the screenshot, and use the 'upload an image' bit when you add a reply. Has to be below 2mb, but screenshots aren't much.

Yeah, forgot the shift. Just posted that as it's good info, especially about changing the default image format, as I think it is .tiff with lion? I changed it back to .jpg.

Skitch has released an iOS app, as well as android apps in the last few weeks, as an FYI.
