Sadly flash support went with version 4 of android.
Just shows how out of date I was with my desire hd Also I bought one of the slim cases from Amazon for about £9, it doesn't make the phone much bigger at all to be honest, so far so good. I'll put a link later when i'm on my laptop

Looking in my settings it seems Lte wasn't selected, I have now though and I have a letter E where the H+ was.
For anyone with a Z on the lookout for a car kit, I've just had a Brodit one delivered from Amazon, and it is up to their usual excellent standards.
Installation - took about 2 minutes in total as I was replacing the one for my Xperia S, so it was undo 2 screws, remove S holder, fit Z holder. Even starting from scratch they can be fitted in 15 minutes or so. You need the holder, and the fitting bracket for your vehicle, depending on where you want to put it.
Construction - as sturdy as ever, one bit I really like is that they have used the exposed charging contacts for charging, rather than microUSB, so no fiddling about with flaps to plug it in (that really annoyed me with the S)
Use - Brilliant Slides in and out of the cradle easily enough, and when fitted Sony Smart Connect picks up you have connected to a docking station, meaning on mine I have set it to switch on Bluetooth, then when it picks up the stereo Smart Connect turns off WiFi, turns on the GPS and switches it to Sony Car mode, all without any input from me - so it's a bit like Tasker without the battery drain or performance issues. Then when I remove it at the end of the trip, Car Mod exits, GS and BT get swithed back off, and WiFi back on.
Probably the best 40 quid I've spent this month and has made an already excellent bit of kit even more useful. Still getting plenty of positive comments about the Z, the battery has settled down to easy lasting a day and a half, and the recent software update has cured a couple of small issues I was having.
How's everyone else getting on with theirs?

What's the benefit of one of these bespoke kits, and a universal clamp? How's everyone else getting on with theirs?
I bought one of these back in my iPhone days, has held my Moto Droid, SGS2, BB Bold and Oppo Find 5 without any problems:
Suction mount is great, it's rock solid, all the space to reach the buttons/connectors,...

They are mounted on the dash rather than the windscreen, meaning they ar emuch easier to reach I've got mine mounted just to the left of my stereo in my E46, so it's at my fingertips Also come with a built in charger so saves messing around with USB cables, and leaves my windscreen clear to see out of. Plus all the Smart connect goodness I mentioned I bought one of these back in my iPhone days, has held my Moto Droid, SGS2, BB Bold and Oppo Find 5 without any problems:

Only pain if you have to buy a new cradle if you get a new phone, but you can re-use the old mounting bracket easily enough. A small pain, but I can deal with that

How do I change my alarm tone to something other than the built in ones?
Can't seem to find a charging cradle anywhere. It's on back order
Charging mine every day which is a pain.
When setting the alrm, go to Advanced Alarm Settings -> Style -> Create new Style. You should be able to add a custom tone in there. Can't seem to find a charging cradle anywhere. It's on back order

Been looking for the cradle myself but none in stock, Sony website claims you can order now?

Thinking about one of these as an upgrade over my SGS2 but have heard some bad things about the screen. Anyone had any issues around poor contrast or the screen washing out when looking at the screen at an angle?
e here. The contrast does dip slightly looking at it from extreme angles, but we're talking the kind of angles which turn the screen on an S2 green, so it's not really an issue. Makes up for it with sharpness and colour reproduction, both are top notch.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
