I've spoken to them and they reckon normal service should be resumed in 3-6 hours. Apparently they've finished installing the hardware and are now upping the CPU power. Like I care - just give me my email I said.

Jamie - does Register1 have an equivalent to the 1and1 Instant Mail package? I don't require web hosting, just IMAP mailboxes and domain parking. As such pretty much everything I require from 1and1 has been down this week.

Looking at your site, it appears that to have actual email mailboxes as opposed to aliases I'd need to take out a VDS package?

We dont offer 'just mail' packages..

the VDS is available from £2.75 a month equivalent (£33 a yr on the Buy for 2 years, get the third year free offer!)

Unlimited IMAP / POP3 / SMTP / Webmail / FTP accounts, with the added bonus of web hosting too

1Gb of Disk, 30Gb of transfer.
2Gb of Disk, 100Gb of transfer on the VDS Pro (with a free domain!)

All depends on how much you're paying atm!
and if you want it to stay up or not beer

Hi Jamie - I have 2 domain names registered with 1&1, using for email and simple homemade website hosting - looking to add a 3rd.

Need webmail and pop3 access for the email - can you provide and migrate everything from 1&1?

Also, what do you provide in terms of server-side anti-spam and anti-virus for mailboxes? And can I configure things so there is no catch-all for emails to my domain which don't match a specific mailbox or alias?

Dont expect them to expedite your exit as a priority.

They are apparently rather well known for this...

As above, we provide mail with the VDS packages,

as for migration, whilst my support chaps will happily answer any queries you have, i'm afraid they wont be able to do the migration lock stock and barrel for you, my Serverstream brand offers this level of management, however the prices do reflect this

Each VDS has anti-spam built in, and you have the ability to add your own customer anti-spam rules, we also do offer a hardware Antispam firewall, however this is £49 per month per domain, but it does result in approximately 99% less spam (i get maybe one a every few weeks atm!)

Had a rather nice .pdf from them this morning, with the next 2 years charges for the hosting.
I have already transferred them to jamie furious
Jumped through a load more hoops, and hopefully have finally scraped them off the bottom of my shoe. It only took half an hour on hold, and several searches of their FAQ to find the link to ditch them.

Hot brick anyone ?
