Internet connection via network no longer working
Discussion
You could try restarting the "Internet connection firewall/ICS service" on the desktop machine, assuming you have any processing power left to carry this out.
Right click my computer - manage - services and applications - services, in the right hand pane click the aformentioned service and in the top tool bar click on the restart service. May save you restarting the whole box and worth a try.

I don't have that option, but I'm guessing here if I go to Start/Run/services.msc it will go to the same place?
Actually it's not on this listing, is there another way of getting there?

Also start menu - run - "compmgmt.msc"

Actually knew how to et there I meant to say that ICS isn't on the Services listing, under "ICS" or "Internet Connection Sharing". Is it called something else?

Sorry
"Internet Connection Firewall(ICF)/ Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" is the full name listed. Appears just after Indexing Service in my console.

Thanks Andy, restarting the ICS worked. Brilliant.
Many thanks to you, Pete & Chris for your help today.
Don't mention it mate. Working mainly on servers doesn't allow for much re-booting to be done, people tend to notice, so I rely a bit on being able to do service re-starts.
