Is just me or does the volume restricted to 42 (out of 100) when I plug headphones in?
42? Well, you clearly already have the answer. You just need to find the right question now. Actually the problem was the Realtek/Samsung audio drivers (Windows is supposed to flag a warning above 42, but I didn't get this with Win 10...) answer was to roll back to the stock Microsoft audio drivers

Anyone else getting constant low memory warnings recently? Might have to roll back to 8.1, 10 is pissing me off. Touch usability with the new start menu is fking awful and I really miss swipe navigation from the IE app.
How much memory have you got? Task manager should also give you how much memory is in use.I've got 'only' 6GB and that copes well with Skyrim with high textures and a few mods.
Is anyone using Win 10 for daily use (.NET development) ? (Have access to 9926 tech. preview)
I have a new laptop arriving this week with 8.1, which I could probably use if I have to.
EDIT: Might avoid due to keyloggers & feedback system.

Personally I wouldn't use Windows 10 if you're going to be doing work on it. I've got it on my personal laptop but it's just for games and internet browsing so don't give a st really if it goes tits up.I have a new laptop arriving this week with 8.1, which I could probably use if I have to.

If you want to test stuff in Windows 10 you could just run it as a VM in 8.1

My home PC is Win10 only and .Net development playpen. I suppose I have changed my backup regime, but it's perfectly stable and usable. The idea that Microsoft are spying on my Next New Thing via the keylogger seems absurd to me. Brilliant though I am, of course.grumbledoak said:

Thanks, my concern was more for usernames/passwords/online banking. Chris Type R said:

Wifi never connects automatically, despite checking box to connect automatically
Start menu search no longer works, trying commands to reset the thing has no effect. That said it seemed a bit useless even when it was working, the start menu search in Win7/8 is more intuitive IMO.
Virtualbox fecks everything up requiring a system restore (see above).
Frequent freezes when trying to display a right click menu in explorer.
Login screen defaults to the local admin account rather than my Microsoft account (okay this might have been an easy fix)
Probably a few other things which I can't remember.
Pity as on my desktop in the living room running Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7, as opposed the fresh Windows 10 install on the laptop) the only niggle so far was having to install a dev build of Virtualbox, otherwise it's running great.

You do know it's not finished right? The early downloads are for helping with testing and feedback, not complaining it doesn't work properly.
Hence the question re. real world experience of stability. There's no expectation that it's a polished product, but in some cases MS OS pre-releases have been stable enough to use daily.

That would be a killer for me, as my new Dell 9530 laptop doesn't have a built-in LAN port.Wifi never connects automatically, despite checking box to connect automatically
I've decided to endure 8.1 until closer to Win10 shipment date. It's much less annoying to me than 8.0. Hopefully 10 will be a straight upgrade rather than fresh install, as installing all of my dev stuff takes ages.

ETA IIRC if you install Windows 10 over Windows 7, you get an option to revert back to the old OS during boot. I assume this true if you installed it over Windows 8?

Well they will get more stable as you get closer to release, but betas are only meant to be functionally complete, not stable.
You know, this really does go without saying. Just put it on my main laptop (Thinkpad T420)
It's FAST, I noticed that it cheats though, even if you choose 'shutdown' it still does some kind of hibernation. 'restart' does a full reboot though.
Theres a few bits that aren't as pretty as I expect they will when it's finished but hay hum.
The multiple desktops thing is wicked - Gnome called from the 90s it wants its feature back - love it anyway.
USB boot kept locking up so I ended up running setup from the hard drive from the W7 installed on the SSD, then choosing not to keep anything, worked well but just had to go afterwards and delete a load of old folders from the c: drive. Windows.old and some other shrapnel.
The experiment continues...
