After two years my Pi 4 B 2GB has died, thought I'd get a replacement but don't seem to be able to find any boards for sale that don't include a starter kit.

I paid just over £30 for it back in 2020 so it's surprising that it's triple that today, guess it's all down to the component shortages and zero covid supply chain issues in China?

I was only using it for Octoprint but buying another would be half the price of the 3D printer, may try using something else.
I've a Pi Zero running octoprint. It's fine. Apparently, if you're using a camera at the same time it can be insufficient.

I ended up buying an elderly Mac Mini on eBay for a recent project, instead. ~£85. Works a treat.

Not exactly Raspberry Pi, but it's on the Pi Hut site. Watchy, an open source epaper watch (ie. A Pebble Watch)

Getting a bit pricey.

Bought one anyway.

I'm sure I'll give something to use it for.

Hmm. There might now be a price correction and a glut of Pi4s by Christmas.

Reading about the PI5 prompted me to get my PI 1B out of the cupboard and stick pi-hole on it to act as a backup for the existing PI4 setup. It works surprisingly well ! I guess I'll get a PI5 at some point, but I'll probably wait a few months for the likely initial software glitches to be ironed out.

I have my 2 Piholes set up in an HA Cluster, so if one goes down, the other takes over automatically.

I have no requirement for a Pi 5, so happy with my 4's.

Same... but I'll probably still buy a 5!

I wonder if it'll be able to transcode h265 in Plex.

Naturally I bought an 8GB pi 4 a few weeks ago, unaware that a new model was due out. Ho hum. I'm using it to give me remote access to my work VDI over cisco. Works really nicely driving a 1080p and a 4k monitor.

Have recently started teaching my son some python by helping write a simple game on a pi2 I had floating around from previous half-finished projects. Maybe he deserves an upgrade to my current pi4?

How will it work - will the Pi4 continue to be sold once the Pi5 is made available?

if 4 prices come down or people upgrade and start to sell 2nd hand 4's then I might just take advantage of this lovely enclosure and make up a cluster smilehttps://thepihut.com/products/uctronics-complete-e...

Yes. I don’t believe the Pi3 has been officially cancelled yet.

Yes you can still get new Pi3.

Plenty of commercial customers use the older models and need that spec, I have a mate who uses them for running background music in shops and restaurants, needs the audio out jack, so will need to keep using Pi3 and 4s. Pi5 has no jack.

There's a statement here that it will be available until at least the 2030s - https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/introducing-raspb...
