I'll echo the comments about battery - it really is a vast improvement on what's gone before. Not really run mine down hard yet, but I've been getting through a day without any issues at all.

Couple of potentially useful tips... You can enable % battery indicator (Settings > Power > Show battery level in status bar) and also I found the missing 'Stay awake whilst charging' function I liked - it's moved from the Power menu to the Developer menu for some bizarre reason. To access the developer menu, go to Settings > About > Software Information > More and then tap on 'Build Number' seven times. Doing this won't invalidate any warranty at all. When you go back to the 'Settings' menu, you'll find the Developer Options are now available to you. Do be careful with this if you don't know what you're doing though. In there is the option 'Stay awake' (screen will never sleep while charging). This enables you to have the phone on charge with the screen on permanently (you can still turn it off if you want to) but I've found it invaluable in the car where I want the screen on all the time, not to have to wake & unlock it.

I haven't rooted....yet... hehe

Picked mine up (SIM Free) yesterday. As has been echoed above, it's a nice evolution of the M7 One (which i'll sell on).

Where can I get a Dot View case from? Everywhere seems to be preorder only.

The official HTC store was where I ordered mine.

However, the expected delivery date sends to have gone from 3 days to 32...

Might cancel it and order elsewhere. That said, I really like the standard gel case it came with, not sure if the Dot Matrix one might get annoying. Some of the videos also seemed to show somewhat suspect responsiveness..?

Does anyone know how the dot view case hinges? The stand feature of the M7 flip case (which I got free somehow when I ordered my M7) always got dust and crap in the back of it, which scratched the case of my M7, so if the dot view is the same, I think I'll leave it. I do like the gel case, I think they only included it to grant it the splashproof IP specification (which I read about after getting it) - as it covers both the ports...

Still, a nice surprise in the box smile

Just cancelled my order through the HTC shop/Expansys as it has indeed slipped to a May delivery date.

Edited because idiot.

I like the look of the CaseMate 'Barely There' clear case as it'll let you see the loveliness of the machined phone casing through it. I have a CaseMate on my One X which has lasted really well.

I wouldn't bother with the HTC One Doubledip Hardshell, for £20 it feels like a £2.99 eBay job would...not a great fit and quite loose and rattly....back it goes.

Just ordered from Mobile Fun - http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/official-htc-one-m8-fli...

Will be here tomorrow all being well, they are shipping it today.

Will see if I like the DM case - if not, one of you lot can have it off me if you like? I like the look of the CaseMate 'Barely There' clear case as it'll let you see the loveliness of the machined phone casing through it. I have a CaseMate on my One X which has lasted really well.

Edit: MobileFun were a good tenner cheaper than HTC's own shop as well.

You know that is a standard case above, right?

Oh crap. So it is.

Too late to cancel, will have to return it. Amended my post above to stop others ordering the wrong thing!

Can someone please look in their Google Maps for me, when you click in the search box a box appears below the search box with a blue circle with a blue dot - next to that it says "Press Start" which takes me to a random place in France...anyone know what this is or for?

Mine does that on Samsung galaxy note 2. In Geneva more specifically. Absolutely no idea but it shows a cartoon type house?

Just noticed something - my phone doesn't have the 'extreme power saving' feature mode! Does anyone else have it? This is a simfree model from the Carphonewarehouse

1.12.61.17

Makes sense, the third set is carrier specific. I'm on EE.

Edit: still going well:
