A week into ownership now and the stand out thing for me is the quality of the screen - it looks fantastic compared to my 4S. I also can't quite get over how thin and light it is, which I think makes up for the large size.

I read something about this but can't remember where.
IIRC, you have to un-pair it from the car, turn the phone off and on and re-pair it, or something along those lines

Yes. It doesn't work properly. Dials but then doesn't connect the voice to the car speaker. I haven't really looked at it too deeply, but it worked fine with the iPhone 5.

Of course, it could be Nissan's fault...

if you dial from the phone handset rather than through the car, you need to tell it to switch in-call to the car's bluetooth.

No this is voice dialling via Bluetooth (hold dial on the steering wheel and "Call alcoholics anonymous").

As I said, could be me just all the other iPhones I've had just worked.

"call RAC accident helpline" smile

i've heard a couple of people say things about bluetooth issues. I've never had a problem, but bluetooth over the ages has been plagued by compatibility issues between devices people try to connect to each other. The car is always the issue, but you can't often change the thing that's preventing it from working, just need to change the car annoyingly. Dealer software update?

Well, an unfortunate incident this morning involving a croissant, a cup of tea, my iPhone5 and a stone floor has rather forced my hand. iPhone6 on order; suggests 7-10 days for delivery.

Anyone got a preferred place to replace an iPhone5 screen?

8.0.2 has broken bluetooth calling via the car for me on an iPhone5. It worked prior to this.

No joy after reinstalling and doing all the stuff with the car, can't get the bluetooth to work properly.

Also keep getting a damn "no connection" every so often and no internet access.

I'm sending it back because I don't have another phone to use while I wait for an update.

Hopefully I won't have to wait four weeks for the next 6 plus.

Anybody tried running Airport Utility on their 6 yet? It tells me that there isn't an Airport device on my network, despite my old 5 seeing it fine (both phones running iOS 8.0.2).
The 6 also doesn't see the Shairport4w instance running on my office PC in the list of Airplay devices, despite this being visible to every other Apple device on the network.

he said because it was a hairline crack, rather than the whole screen shattered it could have been design fault with too much pressure on teh screen.

That has happened to my 5s ages ago, I might see if I can blag it.

Genuine question; are iPhone screens made of a poor quality glass as they seem to smash or crack relatively easily, I have a Lumia 920 with Gorilla Glass, I've dropped it countless times; on the corners, edges, back and on the screen and all I have to show on the screen are a few very minor and light scratches?

i thought it was gorilla glass on iPhone 6? It was proposed as sapphire glass, but Apple pulled it at a relatively late stage due to quality issues, and the manufacturer promptly went pop, probably had all their eggs in that basket.

I've never broken a screen and to be frank I know very few people that have. To break 3... it must be you!

Surely it's no worse than on other smartphones? The 5 was quite alright, the 4(S) was a terrible design for the glass both front and back though. Very prone to breaking because the glass was also the edge of the device

Very anecdotal, I know, but I know plenty of people that have broken screens on their phones. Doesn't prove anything one way or another.

I've seen a lot of broken iPhone screens although mainly with the 4 / 4S. I work in an office full of iPhone 5s and I don't think any are cracked.

I wonder how we could find out. Out of curiosity I just had a look at Google trends using the term "iPhone broken screen".

It seems two or three times as many people do Google searches for broken iPhone screens than any other manufacturer. Hardly scientific but interesting.

Here are the results

Do companies have to publish warranty stats? I think that's the only way you'd find out any real trends.
