Have only really customised my Nexus 7 so far, if I don't chop it in for something else over summer I'll probably do my Galaxy S3 to match the theme.

Minimal MIUI Go Apex Theme
Desktop Visualiser for Status Update (using Wizz Widget) and Search Google widgets
Minimalistic Text (with Hanzel Italic font) for next calendar appointment
Days Until widget coupled with Minimalistic Text again
Static wallpaper using Wallpaper Changer (cycles through ten images, changing either every ten minutes or each time it's unlocked)

My homescreens tended to be a bit of mess (might have posted mine previously) Now I've gone for the more simplistic/clean approach.



Nexus 4 running Paranoid Android with Tablet style UI
Nova Launcher (free version atm)
Zooper Widgets (free version again...)

paid version of zooper is good, you can make a tap of each element of the widget launch a different app of you want. only downside is you have to recreate the widgets
