USB and magsafe would be really hard to get working together.

I wonder if they will make an iBag for all the dongles you will need...

Strange they kept the 3.5mm jack after telling us all it was old sh*t.

So just to check, if you have an iPad or iPhone, you can't connect it directly to a new Macbook Pro?

And if you've bought a pair of headphones with a lightning connector, you can't connect them to a new Macbook Pro either?

Presumably, the decision to ditch MagSafe is because one of the primary uses of the Thunderbolt 3 ports is external displays which should be able to charge the MacBook.

It could finally be a notebook that is genuinely dockable with just one cable?

Ideally with a display (or pair of) that itself functions as dock like the ultra-widescreen LG displays.

Only with an adaptor.

My thoughts on this release:

1) A MBP range has been completely diluted here.
2) Why oh why did they get rid of USB, HDMI and SD card slots...takes away the whole "Pro" aspect for me.
3) Why does the trackpad have to be that big??!!
4) Why didn't they give people the option to have USB on the non-Touch pad version and leave the gimmick for the Touch-pad version?
5) Basically the new Macbook cough cough Pro is a glorified Macbook 12 now.
6) The kept the headphone jack when not many people use it on a Mac yet got rid of it on the iP7??!! Madness.
7) The only good thing about getting rid of the MagSafe on the 13"MBP is the Usb-C based charger is much smaller and lighter to carry round.

Btw the way I just went an ordered a Macbook Pro Retina 13".....the current 2015 model and will stick this in the cupboard if mine current one (same spec) goes wrong. When these stop being manufactured a lot of "Professional" Mac users may still be crying out for one by the sounds of things.

Overall really not impressed. My biggest gripe is that on a MBP their biggest feat was an Emoji bar.... so so sad. Their products are slowly merging into one glorified, non-specific product.

It's not hilarious.
It is courage

Apple make status symbols now. "Look here's my new Macbook PRO with the flashy but rather unnecessary touch bar"

A quite from a colleague "I got a transparent case so that you can tell it's an iphone 7" I couldn't and nor do I care.

If this is the tack with the MacBook, then iMac is going to be hilarious and eye watering expensive.

Aren't all new models of any brand going to be more expensive given the current exchange rate?

Not sure if anyone has noticed but according to the site the useless Emoji-bar version of the 13 inch is only available in 256gb and can not be upgraded. Am I missing something or is it more stupidity from Apple?

But you can't use your new iPhone 7 lightning earphones without an adaptor. They are seriously arrogant.

Oh, no, it's even better than that.

It's £25.

No wonder their shops have great big windows.

I love my Macs. Got a 2011 13" Air I'm writing this on and a 2013 15" pro as a work machine.

Will I buy another? Not sure. The prices are stupid frankly. Maybe it'll be an XPS or a Surface Book pro instead for me really.

Not for much longer. Jony Ive is removing all the windows and doors. The storefront will just be a big shiny black sheet that you're not allowed to touch because it'll scratch.

Quite like the look of the 15" version, but at £2400 is that not significantly more than previous iterations? Don't think I'll be ordering one.

Touch bar I think will be pretty good, but I think they have oversold it. Things like Spotify controls/brushes maybe useful but the practicalities of editing or doing anything serious are slight. I, like most I'm sure, find mice innacurate enough and usually use keyboard for specific movements/fine judgements. Touch sensitive just isn't accurate enough.

The price hike thing isn't just because of exchange rates/brexit though is it? It's a worldwide price hike across the board as far as I can see.

We've become so used to computers generally falling in price but with the cost of those MS surface studios announced yesterday and now these Macbooks today, it seems Apple and Microsoft are in a battle to reverse that trend!
