Where next for high end mobiles?

I thought the waterproof thing was a reasonable advance - as indeed is the speed of it.
But I tend to agree that it's hard to think what else could enhance these things other than stylistic change.
I wouldn't say that the waterproofing is an advance - there were loads of good waterproof smartphones out there alreadyBut I tend to agree that it's hard to think what else could enhance these things other than stylistic change.
Personally I hope the next advance is a step back toa phone being a phone, and having a separate tablet for all the messaging bks so I can actually have a day off without customers tracking me down via fb, phone, text, email, whatsapp or twitter and always expecting an immediate response.
Guess I am in the minority though

I think we're unlikely to see a staggering breakthrough now. It's a bit like "where next for bicycles" They're good enough. Phones are increasingly being built down to a cost and the major tech firms are turning their attentions to other markets. E.g. Automotive where they can get a margin again.

Nope not in a minority, I want the same thing. Luckily the phone I have for work has been upgraded to a Note 4 so I cant really carry that around with me anymore outside of work hours as its too big.Guess I am in the minority though

Lower prices. - That is just pie in the sky, you may as well ask for built in light sabre! Now there is an idea, a phone with a light sabre…

A budget, mid range phone can already deliver all you ask ,if you choose wisely, so why pay the extra for a high end phone ? Not smashing when you drop it. - Awesome, definitely needed

Or are you saying high end phones actually aren't as good as budget ones lol

At least, that's why I spent what's probably too much money on a Pixel XL. Camera performance is something you just don't get with the mid range phones.

One of my friends drove over his 6210 by accident (if you met him, you wouldn't even ask how, we forgot to ask) the phone was fine, screen had a slight scratch, which phone can take that punishment now?
I am interested as I am looking for a new phone.
Also if there is a sub £200 phone that has a light sabre it would be really helpful in my battle against the dark side...

Where do folks think the screen size of phones will settle down at? They're getting bigger and bigger - at one point 5.5 inch devices used to be known as 'phablets' however now that size is the norm for a lot of phones.
I do think we'll see them stop getting bigger, at least in the 16:9 set up. The newer phones seem to be going for screens that much taller, so the width stays nice for the hand but they achieve more screen by making it longer. LG G6 and S8 are doing this and it makes reaching across the screen a bit nicer. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
