hi guys, i'm looking to buy a new asus rt n56u router and i found it for £38 on buyitplayit.com. the next cheapest is about £70. i've looked online for reviews of this site but cannot find any. less than half price seems far too good to be true and was wondering if any of you have experience with buying from this site?

thanks

1) Can you phone them to wish them Happy Easter?
2) Can you physically touch their premises by driving there from Birmingham (even if they won't let you in without an appointment)?
3) Is the domain registered in the UK?

I'm also looking for any info on this website, their prices seem too good to be true, one item sells for £1,300 they have for £550.

A search reveals little info, in fact the only things that come up are their site and a load of coupon/voucher sites.

If anyone has had any dealings with these people, be good to hear, good or bad.

edited : I should also point out buyitplayit.COM only seems to list games console stuff, but the one I was looking at is eu.buyitplayit.ORG which lists loads of very cheap electrical stuff including consoles

Surely this tells you all you need to know?
What is the item by the way?

Xbox 360 250GB for £90 (Amazon is £180), would love it if it was true, sadly I don't think it is.

Someone sucks at googling!

Scam a loola!

I really ought to start scamming people as I thought that the old saying of "if it looks to good to be true" was effective, evidently not!

As an Accountant I do occasionally see scam frauds on clients.

As I repeatedly tell clients particularly on Web based deals:

If it looks to good to be true, it very probably is too good to be true.

As is the case here.

Never pay with Western Union, UK eVoucher, global eVoucher or paysafe card.

Credit Cards are best because of the inbuilt safety. Be careful out there.

REMEMBER

IF IT LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT VERY PROBABLY IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

Be careful out there. NO EXCEPTIONS

BUYITPLAYIT

I HAVE TODAY SPOKEN TO THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY WHO RENT OUT THE OFFICES AT 25 TALBOT STREET BELFAST THE MAILING ADDRESS GIVEN ON THE BUYITPLAYIT SITE.

NEWTOWN BUSINESS CENTRE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS COMPANY AND ARE NOW INVESTIGATING THEM FOR USING THEIR BUSINESS ADDRESS.

I HAVE ALSO EMAILED THEM REGARDING INFORMATION ON ITEMS OFFERED FOR SALE AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PROMPT REPLY EVEN ON A SUNDAY EVENING BUT WHEN I EMAILED THEM REGARDING CALLING INTO THEIR PREMISES IN BELFAST TO PAY FOR AN ITEM INSTEAD OF THE STRANGE PAYMENT METHODS OFFERED ON THE SITE AS OF TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLY.

I HOPE THIS POST WILL HELP ANYONE WHO IS UNSURE OF THE TO GOOD TO BE TRUE PRICES THAT THIS WEBSITE OFFERS.

Completely agree with the if it seems to good to be true ethos, but this just makes me think if I were doing similar I would just charge say £20 less for and xbox etc. Would stop a certain amount of curiosity but still invite traffic due to lower prices.

The power of forums -> until now there was very little info from a google search for 'buyitplayit' now third in the list is this very forum thread hopefully giving others more to go on than their own gut feeling.

The item I was looking at was the Samsung UE40D8000 and yes the dodgy payment methods, extremely low prices and unpolished website told me all I needed to know but I'm not one to turn down a good deal until I've done some research. The problem with this lot is that they have got themselves listed in google shopping lists, I wonder if there's any way to inform google of potential scam sites like this, they might even go as far as investigating it, I'll have a look into it, if anyone knows any good ways to have them investigated, would be worth doing.

edited: just tried to go through the actionfrud.org.uk website to try get someone to look into it, but I keep getting an 'unexpected error' after a few questions, I'll try again later ...

I've tried reporting it on that actionfraud site but they're linked off the Home Office - National Fraud Authority who have a general enquiries email, I've informed them of the suspicious nature of the site and we'll see what they say ...

I am the owner of Buyitplayit.com which is a company owned by OG International.net. This site is currently dormant and not accepting orders.

There is a site just launched which is www.buyitplayit.eu or www.buyitplayit.org which is offering alot of products at amazing prices.

This company is not affiliated in any way with www.buyitplayit.com and i believe the site is not genuine. The address in belfast is a virtual office address and the company which runs the virtual office company has contacted me as many people have ordered from the .eu and .org sites and not recieved goods.

Please be very carefull with this site. Many people are not getting the goods and the prices are to good to be true. They are also offering some very strange payment method.

Please be very careful, this site is nothing to do with Buyitplayit.com

Regards

Lots of companies listed at that address too (but the postcode for that address should be RG7 8NN NOT RG7 8BB), but it's probably just an office base for registering companies to and to have somewhere to dump mail.
