I think by this you mean if you download songs from itunes store on the ipad directly, how would you then transfer them to your ipod.

Well most would sync ipad to home computer, and then sync ipod to it. but there are cables on the market which you can transfer ipod > ipod, and ipad > ipod.

Hope that helps,

also New ipad will be announce at CES show in Jan, but wont get released till April/May time, (happened smae time last year) IMO i think thinner ipad with retna screen, front camera for facetime, hopefully intergrated sim card (they are planning this for new iphone) screen size the same, faster processor, maybe in white (not)

very helpful thanks, to explain all I use my laptop for is 90% internet / 5% email / 5% phhotos

so the plan was to sell the laptop and replace with a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and an ipad

bad idea?

iPad is more of a companion device. There are some things the iPad won't do or can't do, so doubt selling the laptop is a good idea.

I'm surprised Apple or going down this route of changing the design quite so soon - it's not an iPhone.

The iPad is not a cheap bit of kit, and most current owners won't rush to buy iPad2. Will it also possibly ps off those who just spend the thick end of £500 that a new version is out quite so soon? I know it happens, but it could leave a nasty taste in a few mouths.

Granted there are some additional features that would make the iPad more fun to use, but on the whole it does a good job, and I would have expected a life of three years with minor changes, then V2 as that's a good timescale to swap to a new upgraded product.

Just my 2p worth smile

That's kinda why I don't think the iPad2 will be announced in January. Unless the range becomes a 2 model range with the iPad2 having a small price premium.

If they do release an updated iPad I'd imagine it would be similar to the jump from iPhone 3G to 3GS I.e. Still look very similar just mostly under the skin improvements and the camera.

Read an article last night that said the replacement will be thinner and lighter, but use the same screen. The suggestion was that it would be announced in April...

It's interesting that they reckon iPad2 will arrive just as a few of the bigger names get ready for their own tablet releases.

This will be fascinating to watch.

Sold the last iPad as I didn't get much use out of it. If they gave it a front facing camera then I may be persuaded. But I am also excited at the prospect of Facetime using my MBP so perhaps I wouldn't use it.
