...speaking as a bloke who thinks 8 track is good technology, and Sinclair lead the world in computing:

1) Anybody bought one of those remotes which purports to make your DVD player multi region?
2) If you have a DVD writer on your computer can you copy a region 1 disc & make it region 2?
3) .....or can anybody recommend a cheapo multi region player?

Ta!!

1. I don't really know about these.

2. You can make any DVD region free with a DVD writer the only problem is you will probably have to shrink it to get it fit on a blank DVD which isn't too hard to do.

You will need several programs or use somthing like DVDXcopy if you can find it to do this which you can get off this website, just read one of the guides on the site and decide which way you want to do it.

3. Region free DVD players are pretty cheap these days try Richer sounds they start from £30.

Make sure, if you're spending.. that the DVD player supports RCE disks.

These are clever lil buggers.

Typically Regionless players just didnt care what region the DVD asked for and said 'YES' to all.

'They' got smart, and make the DVD ask, Are you Region1, 'YES' Are you Region2 'YES' would result in the film refusing to play.

RCE smart DVD players allow you to SET them to a certain region....

Always for a bob extra

On Some players you can get round this, by once you put the disc in, just hammer the menu button or forward track button.

I've done that on a few players now and gets round the RCE stuff.
