Who here has (or has had) a hosted domain + email with BT connect (regardless of whether you use BT broadband or bt yahoo broadband or 56k dialup to connect)

I have been having problems for 9 months. Emails I send take 2-4 days to arrive. Emails sent to me often bounce.

Im guessing affected emails might be 5-10% which is unforgivable. They put up the "zero liability T&C" shield when asking for compensation.

But come on, 9 months

I recall hearing that BT were banned from using the words "Fast" or "reliable" in their marketing campaign, because... they wern't.

I'd be tempted to move across to Register1 who are a forum sponsor of Pistonheads.

Constantly had great service from them and i've got about a dozen different domains registered with them.

Thnx Rico.

Must say, totting up the PH members now, quite a fair few PH'rs using Register1 / Serverstream.

Customer Service is a dirty phrase for some..

TSK I Say.. Serve your customers well, and they will be your best assets!

Many years ago we had no end of trouble with BT mail servers - finally gave up and went elsewhere - to Easynet it was and had no complaints at all for the four years I was with them.

BTs mail servers seem to be a bunch of old 486 pcs clustered together and you can imagine what that does for the MTBF.

Stay well clear IMHO

Bob, feel free to drop me a mail via my profile if you want to chat, or just click the banner in the top right.

Your own mailserver for less than a meal out.

Does register1.net offer unlimited domains, or a reseller account? I basically need hosting for unlimited domains (hundreds, or certainly dozens to begin with)

I am with bt, but my cilents are scattered all over the place. So I need a reseller account with plenty of bandwidth, telephone support UK based, with no limit or incremental limits on domains.

Not looking to pay £100 per domain, thats what I charge my clients for basic hosting!

Bob...

domains aren't free to register... not even for a company like register1. therefore you're unlikely to find a company that will give you unlimited domains whilst still giving you a decent service.

You can get .co.uk domains for £4... .coms for £9... not a huge price to pay but that doesn't include bandwidth or hosting fees

You can easily get a domain+hosting for a year for under 40 notes...

You can support unlimited domains, but if you're looking at large scale domains, I would simply advise you look into a Dedicated Server.

Drop me a mail via profile with your needs, and I will have someone call you / mail you back.

Telephone support is available thru Serverstream, Register1 is more streamlined.

Always happy to answer questions.

Not wanting to steal from the favoured PH Hoster / Advertiser but try interhost.co.uk for a reseller account.

I have been using them for 3 - 4 years now and they are very cost effective and reliable
