Does it safely retain favourites and links from IE6? I have an extensive list in both.

Apologies in advance if I don't respond to any replies for a while, I've just spent half the night trying to get IE6 to load...might happen again, of course.

Been on the blink since I defragged (first time for a long time), using both Microsoft then Norton.

A system restore on Sunday seemed to fix it, but it's acting like a tit again.

I've had no probs with the new IE since the beta but i still prefer firefox "IMHO" Not heard of anyone losing fav's etc but always worth backing up before an upgrade.

Ta...

Not sure how to backup IE.

Is it safe to load 7 over 6 if 6 keeps throwing a wobbly..?

Seems to be ok at the moment.

I put IE7 on over IE6 and didn't lose any favorites, it seemed to take aloooooong time to install after the download though.

I'm on IE7 in the office and really like it. The only problem is that I use Salesforce.com on a daily basis and some of the buttons have become shaped like this "|" which means I don't know what function they serve (save, edit etc) without rolling my mouse over each little bit.

Apart from that I really like the tab functionality (Similar to firefox??)

Installed IE7.
Not impressed. Nothing new other than alot of my normal websites do not work
Oh and the annoying "lets turn your browsing experience into a Nanny state" security settings. Firefox all the way for me.

Just installed it today. Tabs are a step forward, but other browsers have had them for ages, so nothing to brag about. Got a bit of a wrestling match going on with IE versus Google toolbar trying to block pop-ups. More blows of the hammer will sort it I'm sure. Anyway, so far no major issues and it seems to be somewhat better than IE6

Firefox can import all IE6 data happily too. It's like a working version of IE7 but with silly things like Standards Compliance that MS tend not to worry about.

While you're at it, you can junk Outlook and replace it with Thunderbird which can import all settings, and therefore avoid future email worms and have a much better client.

www.mozilla.org

Sort of like replacing a battered old Austin Allegro and a rusty Sierra with dents in with a shiny brand new Audi A4 and A6.

'Course Firefox and Thunderbird look and run just the same on Apple Macs and Linux machines, so if you migrate away from XPoo to something that works (Just install NeoOffice/OpenOffice to upgrade MS office) in no time flat.

That's what I'd call fixing IE6 properly... like changing an old Montego Estate for a Lexus.
