Looking for one to display movies, TV etc.

Needs an HDMI connection ideally, any more inputs a bonus (most stuff will run through a Mac Mini). Needs to perform really well and look Gucci with as thin a bezel as possible.

Speakers not essential. Should be VESA mountable (I believe most/all are), stand quality not an issue.

Might get away with a 26"er if they perform better (doubt it).

Opinions welcomed.

Have so far seem some from BenQ and Samsumg that look pretty good. Eizo always used to make nice screens too (though not sure about for video).

My old man bought a dell a year or so ago and seems to think it has made his life unquantifiably better. Not cheap, but he does like it a lot.

I'd highly recommend the Dell UltraSharp 2408FWP. Do not get the cheaper TrueLife version as it is nowhere near as good. My company has two of them, we've supplied two to clients and two of our business partners use them. Everyone sings their praises and they are quite a demanding group.

Don't pay the website price on the Dell website - there are much better deals to be had elsewhere. I'd offer to supply it for you as we're a Dell Partner but we could really just supply one to be honest, sorry! smile

HTH,

roadie.

Come now plotloss, allow me some latitude biggrin

It's to be used as a bedroom TV so something suave and elegant without too much in the way of bling would be preferable my good sir biggrin

I have two of the cheaper E248WFP, and when I bought them they were just under half the price of the 2408WFP, so the math to me was clear.

If the price difference over there in the UK is anything similar, and you are not a graphics professional, I would recommend checking out the cheaper one, because I am extremely happy with it for the money.

If you want to save some cash have a look at the LG Flatron - I was recommended it when looking for a 24" by several people so got one, since bought a second for another machine!

Well a decent TV's going to be 330-430GBP I reckon (23"-26"). So that sort of ball park.

The Dell 2408WFP appears to be excellent according to the Overclockers forum. Overclockers (the shop) have it here for £411.24

Top of my list for when my 19" Iiyama gives up the ghost...

The Dell is very closely followed by the Digimate that they sell as OC's own brand. No HDMI though, only DVI and VGA.

Hmmm HP w2408h?

HPs 24" beauty, comes with a seriously nice stand but does have the standard VESA mounts on the back. Takes an HDMI connection or a VGA and got mine for £320 on the high street.

Its lovely, looks the business and the image quality is fantastic.

The only let down is the viewing angle, if you arent straight in front of it, it doesnt love you with it's visual prettiness. On the other hand considering the stand moves in every axis and lets you rotate the screen then there's no real reason for it not to be lined up right.

The image quality over the 2007 version is a huge improvement (and that wasnt too shabby), the 07 22" sat next to it looks drab by comparison.

I'm running the Dell 2407WFP or 2408WFP (I forget which, but it's 1920x1200) as my main screen with a Dell 2007FP (1600x1200) next to it in dual-screen mode.

The main screen is very good indeed. Runs a bit hot, mind. I hate to think what our electricity bill is (I really should keep an eye on the bills - Direct Debit makes things too easy to overlook)
