Mods - feel free to move if you think this would be better in computers but I thought it might get a wider audience in P and P as it's sort of between computers and phones...

I'm just wondering if there's a short answer to how to share files between iPhone and Macbook?

I will be away for a few days out of wifi reception but will have a phone signal. I want to work on some documents of my laptop and then 'ping' these to my iPhone for emailing - is this possible?

Many thanks in advance...

I would imagine if you have bluetooth, you push files to the phone then mail them.

Not difficult.

Not big, not clever, but email them to yourself and use your iPhone to read your mail.

What wonderful connectivity Apple provide.

Does the iPhone offers something so blisterly advanced as a USB charger cable from a laptop USB? If so, chances are, that's a data cable as well.

Yep - in fact that's the only cable you get with it!

I can't do that either as without wifi, I can't email from the laptop. I'm creating the documents whilst away and want to be able to email them on whilst I'm there...

As for the data cable, it does have one but the iPhone doesn't appear as a mass storage device so not much use either...

Yep but iPhone Bluetooth is restricted to using handsfree headsets. No file sharing or anything...

would that be 'files' or something? I saw that yesterday but both machines need to be connected to a wifi hub unfortunately...

There is a program called "Air Sharing" on App store that may also be of use. It is free for a limited time

dont you have to put the files into Itunes, then sync em to the iphone...

i dont know. as i keep a fair distance from apples products... just i think thats how it was explained in one of those iphone vs HTC diamond threads (which might help on the searching on a solution... as i think it came up - the Diamond, you can just bluetooth it accross, or use a wifi, or just connect with a USB cable and look at the phone just like an external harddrive)

Tony - this looks great! QUick question though, does this 'installer app' have any effect on the iPhone - it doesn't jailbreak it or damage it in any way do you know?

Lets you access the iphone files like an external hard drive.

Wouldn't reccomend it if you don't know what you aer going though!

you need to 'jailbreak' to install apps. It is not the same as unlocking and is reversible by doing a restore in iTunes.

The best way of getting 'jailbroken' is with 'Quickpwn' see the threads on hackint0sh.org for more help inc tutorials http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f...

regards
Tony

(just to mention, I have not tried tethering my iphone as I don't need it...)

Thanks Tony - I'll give these a read when I have a mo though I suspect it may be a little techy/scary for me - I'm a bit rubbish at things like this...hehe
